Burning the Ravan in our personality - Rishona Chopra

Dussehra is a festival that celebrates the victory of good over evil, shown in a battle between Shri Ram and Ravan, in which Shri Ram defeats Ravan and kills him by shooting an arrow aimed at him in his navel.

The navel represents the body's consciousness, the root cause of the 10 central vices. The 10 main vices are lust, anger, greed, attachment, ego, jealousy, hatred, deceit, stubbornness and laziness, which are represented by the 10 heads of Ravan. It is shown in the Ramayan scripture that when Shri Ram tried to bring down any of the 10 heads of Ravan, they came back. Ravan got killed only when Shri Ram aimed at Ravan's navel. Only when we become soul-conscious and remember God or the Supreme Soul and finish our body consciousness by doing that do all our vices get destroyed. 

Shri Ram is symbolic of God, and Ravan is symbolic of evil that rules over every soul's personality in the world today. When we imbibe God's goodness in our personality, we burn the 10-headed Ravan in our nature. Burning the effigy of Ravan every year is a symbolic representation of this process, which takes place when God performs the task of world transformation and establishes Ram Rajya or Heaven in the world by destroying Ravan or evil from and purifying all the souls of the world. 

Every year, the height of Ravan's effigy is increased compared to when it was burnt in the previous year. This is symbolic of the vices in the world, which are growing every year, and impurity and negativity in their different forms are taking control of human beings more and more with time. 

When God performs the task of world transformation at the end of every World Cycle, i.e. at the end of Kaliyug or the Iron Age, every soul who is the child and also the beloved of God is represented by Shri Sita in the Ramayan is in sorrow and under the negative influence of Ravan, imprisoned by him.

Peace, as I see it - Tenzin Jambey

It is tough to understand the mentality and mindset of people. All the people are not the same, and there are only rare ones, and some people rarely have the mentality.

When I think about Peace, Peace only thing that comes to my mind is having satisfaction from the work that you have done. We only get peace Peacewe to do the things and actions that make us feel good. Some people do good work and help others to have a feeling of kindness; after all, it's the work from within that gets them peace.

Whereas some people are so foolish that they commit many crimes, harassment and even murder, this and other such acts get them the feeling of peace; I have seen many times in the movies, and other TV shows a person crying, he says that " ap jukai chant mila", which means I get peace after doing the work. But, we wouldn't know they are always wrong at some point, as they have the mentality and habits developed from childhood. It is just that people see a child doing a crime; they say many things about them but never try to make them understand what they are doing. They have a mentality that committing crimes will only cost you a few days in jail.

For me, I actually do not know now what or how peace can be defined. A few days back when I was at my home for vacation, I was very, very happy there with my parents and family and also the environment of the village was very calm and beautiful, I felt thrilled with them there, and I guess that peace means when you are with your loved ones and that also at your favourite place.

Story on Beyblade - Tenzin Paldon

A boy named Shubham, whose Father was a shopkeeper. He sells toys for children, including Beyblade. In Shubham'a class, Beyblade became famous, which made Shubham acquire it. His Friends persuaded him to bring Beyblade from his Father's shop.

Without asking his Father, he took the Beyblade to school. He thought he would return it after showing it to his friends. His friends started playing with it. When one of his friends played, it spun near the stone and broke. This made Shubham scared that if his Father knew about it, he would get beatings.

At the shop, his Father was counting the Beyblades, and he found out that one Beyblade was missing, which made him angry. He thought that the worker had taken it for his son without asking. He started questioning him about the lost Beyblade and threatened that he would fire him if he did not speak.

When Shubham came home, he heard that his Father was angry, which made him even more scared, but when he saw the worker, he accepted that he had stolen it. His Father asked forgiveness from the worker and gave Shubham a lecture to never take things without permission. So this story states the idiom" honesty is the best policy."

A Day In My Life - Reveda Bhatt

24th September this year was exciting.

So, it was Saturday, and my colleague, Kunal (with whom I had been talking for about one year), was in Dehradun (where I live) on his School trip. We had been discussing meeting at the NATIONAL OFFICE*, at The English Book Depot, for days.

We fixed the date to meet as 25th. Talking about something on the 24th, we changed our plan to meet that day as they were here in a group! I requested my Mom to drop me off there.

When I reached with my Mom, they all hadn’t arrived, so we went to the back side of the book-shop and into Sir’s office, spoke to him and just a while later, the whole group arrived. After meeting them, my Mom left.

Seeing them all the first time, I hadn’t spoken to any one of them except Kunal. But, that day, meeting them, we all had fun.

Sir bought us coffee and then went somewhere. Later, to discuss work, we both sat at a table nearby.
Soon, it was time for them to leave. We clicked a photograph to keep as a memoir and drove away.

Learning from each other and experiencing new things under such a group with such influential people is what keeps me going on this path of my life that I have chosen!
