Tenzing Dhekyong My Good School www.GoodSchools.in Date: 30/10/22 To Her Excellency  Droupadi Murmu President of India Rashtrapati Bhavan New Delhi - 110 004 @MurmuDraupadi via Twitter Dear Madam Don't you think our children in this society are not so good and confident in communication skills?. I would love to introduce "MY GOOD SCHOOL". I am still a student here and liked it very much since I learned many things through this. So I wish all could come and learn something on this platform. It improves the skills of listening, reading, writing and also speaking. If everyone joins this session every Sunday from different places and shares their thoughts, then everyone will get distant and even better new ideas. It is open for all ages, especially ages 9 to 90! I would love to ask if you can help us raise this organisation. With deep regard and respect, we look forward to your support. Yours faithfully, Tenzing Dhekyong, Student of My Good School & Pestalozzi India

Letter to the President of India - Rishona Chopra

Rishona Chopra   My Good School www.GoodSchools.in Date: 30/10/22 To Her Excellency Droupadi Murmu The President Of India Rashtrapati Bhavan New Delhi - 110 004 Dear Madam, Subject: Bringing the Joy Of Learning in every classroom. I am an intern at My Good School, where we spread the joy of learning. Learning is an art that must be experienced by every individual. As Henry Ford said, " Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty or eighty . Anyone who keeps learning stays young." Children find joy in everything they do in a classroom where the joy of learning exists. They make their own decisions and, when faced with difficulties, can solve them themselves.  Learning doesn't mean learning to read and write; it means understanding life, instilling values, and making the world better. Children are the future, and it all starts with the joy of learning. We want to make this possible for every child in the world. The joy of learning isn't something special but som

Would She Return? - Vani Pandey

Image
Bob was a wise, elderly man with no family. He had his house in Dehradun, a peaceful and quiet place indeed. He was a famous writer in his town. People used to pay him a considerable sum to get their hands on his poems and stories. That morning was the clearest of all. The sky was blue. The grass was green and luscious. The perfect weather for writing a novel. But Bob didn't want to write a novel. In fact, he hadn't written one in years. The reason was his daughter. He had a daughter who was 18 when she disappeared. Her name was Stephanie. Bob and Stephanie were taking a stroll outside when Stephanie got a call from the woods, which she followed. She was expected to return in a while, but she never did. 5 years had gone by, and there was no trace of her. After a year of searching, Bob finally gave up the fact that Stephanie would never return. Bob used to spend each moment of his life as a melancholy soul. What could he even do?  "Stephanie, Oh my dear, where are you now?

The Art of Giving - Rishona Chopra

Image
When God blesses you financially, don't raise your standard of living. Raise your standard of giving. - Mark Batterson  It is true what Mark Batterson has said, we should give not only when we are rich in our everyday lives, we should raise our standard of giving, it may not be just giving money, even giving a toy to a person who needs it or a book is an act of giving too!  A small act of giving could mean everything to a person. Giving not only makes the other person happy but also makes us happy. As said,' make others happy, and you will be satisfied in the same way give and give, and you will feel better. Bill Gates, one of the wealthiest people in the world, still has a kind, generous heart. When we are super rich or famous, we tend to become more competitive, and while doing that, we sometimes forget about the value of giving. Giving did no harm to Bill Gates; he has succeeded as a better human being. This doesn't mean we only offer when we are super-rich; we can pro

Human Quality: Humility - Rishona Chopra

Image
Despite living in a world of widespread competition and arrogance, whenever you come across a humble person, have you said – "What a humble person, it was lovely meeting him." Have you experienced how even a little humility goes a long way in giving love and joy to others? Our success may not please someone, but our humility has a universal appeal.  We all want to be humble and modest, but sometimes, ego seems to take over, and we end up feeling prideful. The simplest way to check is - When we are humble, we are in the giving mode, radiating our love and purity to others. When there is ego, we shift to the asking way where we want to love and respect. And then we start radiating rejection, anger or hurt. If we are not aware of it, there is a possibility that our ego will surface. Remain calm and stable whether you receive appreciation or criticism. Expectations, competition and comparison, will slowly finish. Every time you act with humility, your ego gets defeated. There is

Quality - Arav Agarwal

Image
Quality is how something or someone is. Everyone has unique qualities, and we need an environment to develop our qualities. At My Good School, we all are building various qualities like leadership, listening, and teamwork. We all can choose the qualities we want within us by being self-aware, responsible, willing to learn and explore and mindful of ourselves and our surroundings. “Quality is more important than quantity” - Steve Jobs. Our mentor explained in our mind-body cricket session that it does not matter how many balls you play or the number of overs you bowl, but what matters is the quality of your batting and bowling, as that is what everyone will remember about us. I feel that our qualities become our character. So, to build these qualities, we want others to remember us as we should be passionate and act with integrity, empathy, kindness and patience, as these are the basic foundations of human values to live a successful and wonderful life. A Selfless Person - Yunika Pokharel

Image
The most selfless person in my life is my MOM. I think she is the selfless one because being selfless is that you feel less about yourself and more about others. When you are generous and kind, you think about others before you, have humanity in you, consider others, and then be called selfless. As for my mom or anyone's, it's the same. Mother always thinks for everyone before her. I want to share an incident with you. Once when my mom had gone out for some work, and when she was back, she bought some eatables for us. My brother was excited, and he started searching for it. When he got it, he had it and went. My mom gave the leftovers to my dad and me. Later I learned that she didn't have any of the eatables and just gave them to us, although it was her favourite, this thinking of my mother keeping everyone before she makes me feel that she is the one who is selfless in my life. What have I learnt from My Good School - Shambhavi Nautiyal

Image
What have I learnt from my one year at My Good School? There are a colossal of amazing things that I have learnt from my one year at My Good School. I read three meaningful and impactful books and got to know three very new authors that helped to make my year a little more bedazzling. Reading is all about simplicity and beauty, which I was able to experience regularly throughout this year. Though I couldn't reflect much in the written form, as far as I can tell, I did have the chance to go through the whole discussion and analysis in the meetings. I enjoyed expanding my knowledge of articulation and vocabulary and viewing the world through different perspectives. I made new friends and got to know their stories and opinions. The first book that we read, Dr Anupam Sibal's "Is Your Child Ready to face the world?', was a book that made me dive into the observations and life lessons manifested through the life of the author. I believe it gave me a view of the world I will

Translation: Independence is not the right to do as we wish but the right to do what is right. Independence is the essence of freedom, the feeling that we are not ruled by anyone but have the opportunity, just like others, to explore and learn. I

The flame must keep burning - Rishona Chopra

Diwali or Deepavali is a time to brighten our homes and hearts. The messages of beauty, newness and freshness carried by the festival are being observed and celebrated differently in various parts of the country. Mythology shares that it honoured the return of Sri Ram to the kingdom of Ayodhya after a 14-year exile when people expressed their joy by lighting Diyas (lamps) to welcome him. So it is a celebration of victory and a return to self-governance or sovereignty. But like every other festival, rituals followed during Diwali hold deep spiritual significance. It becomes truly festive and more meaningful when we understand their purity and imbibe them. Preparations begin with cleaning, painting or even renovation in many houses. What does this spiritually signify? It is a message for us to clean our minds. We need to cleanse it to remove thoughts of anger, criticism, rejection, resentment, hatred, hurt and jealousy. The weight of all this negativity we have been holding on to is weak

My Covid Experience - Arfa Khan

Image
As soon as we heard that the virus had reached India, our anxieties crept up on us. My overprotective grandfather always reminded us to take precautions and would never let us take even a step outside the house unless it was necessary. In the first wave, we all were horrified of the virus and would misunderstand even cough to having the virus. In the new days of the virus, I got a cold, and my nose was blocked. I mistook it as having the virus and started crying, which usually happens once in a blue moon. Catching the virus had become my worst nightmare; I would always chicken out just after hearing it. My grandfather used to watch a news channel with the sound of the EKC/ECG monitor's heartbeat going flatline, which would always make my mother and I feel very uncomfortable. I took things so much to the next level that I would wake up at 4am and check if my parents were breathing. Thanks to our anxieties and our taking precautions, my family didn't catch the virus in the firs

When my mentor left me - Gaurangi Rastogi

Image
When your teacher, who helped you as a friend to fight your pain to become successful, is like you, You can talk to them about anything. Who made your worst subjects interesting. My role model is going on a new journey.  Okay! So, I'm going to tell you my feelings about this scenario in points. When you hear the news, you think of it as a rumour and ignore it for a few weeks. When the news comes out to be true, you simply are in shock.  Now, if you want to make a remembrance for them, you can make it from any material you find.  You decorate it with your words and feelings.  You Know, I am writing this just to express my feelings. This is an important lesson I learnt from my mentor to ‘ express your heart’ in any form.  Gaurangi Rastogi  Class VII  The Doon Girls’ School

It’s Not Over - Reveda Bhatt

“You die when you die, but it’s not the end.” Death is the physical end of an organism on this planet which is its definition. But, as always, in life, there is a twist. Going deep into its meaning, it’s actually the process via which our soul escapes its present physical appearance into another or somewhere away to a place unknown to mankind. This opens up the question or maybe a belief in our minds about the concept of ‘life after death,’ the study of which is termed as ‘Thanatology.’ After years of denying this hypothetical statement, even some people in the field of Science have given in to believing it. One of them is Dr. Stephen Mayer of the United States who said that there was a study proposed which states that Life After Death may be a reality. For this study, researchers at the University of Southampton in England examined more than 2000 victims of cardiac arrests from 15 hospitals out of which 360 of them had revived and about 40 percent had some sort of awareness during th

Swami and Friends - Anvesha Rana

Image
Swami is back with Rajam and Mani, but this time he endures an adventure, so tormenting. It is the 15th of August, Independence day, and the celebrations in Malgudi are wild. People are celebrating Independence with heavy zeal, jubilance and violence. The youngsters are so overflown with this wave of unprecedented patriotism that they don't think about what is essential.  Swaminathan is gullible; he does what he believes others will feel is correct, not caring about his conscience or opinion. He simply flung his Khaddar cap, considered a foreign cloth, when someone doubted him about it. On being caught by the peon, Swaminathan could not sustain being beaten, and henceforth Swami ran away from the school.  Independence means being free from the mind, body, and soul, for we are only in harmony with ourselves and others. Selflessness is also a part of being independent, and my mother is the most selfless person I know. She is softhearted yet strong-willed, she is compassionate yet unw

The Hidden Key 🔐 - Oshi Singh

Climate change has troubled  us to be lone,  But all we humans do is just moan and groan.  But why can't all humans see, That soil is the answer; it is our key!  Long ago, carbon was balanced,  But the humans made it unbalanced.  The soil that once held tight, Had to be lifted from its site.  Deforestation and desertification were the results,  And most people didn't react to it, unlike good adults.  But all we need to do is store carbon in the soil, So that the carbon no more does its harmful spoils.  We should restore the soil and the Earth,  And in the end, all of it would be worth.  Nature's loving technology was and always be there, And protecting it should be the duty that we all should swear.  The answer is right beneath our feet,  We should always respect and further teach.  The problem and the answer are simply a matter of balance,  What we all did was simply a matter of out-balance.  Will the Earth no

Dear School Uniform - Yashraj Sharma

Image
I remember my first day of primary classes when I wore you proudly and happily, but honestly, that was not my first reaction to you. Initially, I felt detached, because you replaced my favourite casual clothes, my t-shirts and trousers. But when I reached school, I saw my classmates and other children wearing the same uniform. I felt a sense of belonging. I felt like I was a part of something then. I like you and always wear you with pride and happiness as a Shreeyan. Today, I want to confess that I know how I got you soiled in the playground and how you got stained with oily vegetable mom gave me in my tiffin, how you got wet because, at times, water spilt on you from my water bottle. Sometimes you feel lonely when I put my ID card (your companion) in my school bag during sports period. I am sorry for that. Now I am in grade 8. After grade 12, you would not be there with me as my companion. I will miss you a lot then. And last but not least, thank you for being carriers of almonds, ca

Alone But Not Lonely - Reveda Bhatt

"What doesn't kill you makes you stronger Stand a little taller. Doesn't mean I'm lonely when I'm alone What doesn't kill you makes a fighter Footsteps even lighter Doesn't mean I'm over 'cause you're gone." -That was Kelly Clarkson. Finding me alone somewhere makes you think that I'm lonely. See, you got me all wrong there. That was my "me-time"-not thinking about the past, not living in the present and not worrying about the future; just letting time leave me behind for a while. Drop it. Coming back, I think once you discover the way to your inner self, it automatically comes to you and then, you have a true friend and a true mate who truly exists but is truly invisible or maybe just too timid to come out. May call it timid because your inner self is afraid that it may lose its trueness in this superficial world on coming out. So, the deeper it is, the better it is. These six lines each carry a meaning distinct from the othe

A Story Is Never Born Before Its Time - Panchami Manoo Ukil

Image
"A story is never born before its time". - an old saying. Once its time has come, nothing can hold it back. For the last four or five years, my husband and I had a conversation about writing this story at the beginning of October. However, the conversation never progressed to writing it down, maybe because its time had not yet come. We have not spoken about this year, but the story has decided it is ready to be told. In December 1997, almost twenty-five years ago, I was in my eighth month of pregnancy and was to go to Bhubaneswar for delivery. My father had come to Delhi for work, and I was to travel back with him. Though I was all packed and ready to go, I had a sleepless night, wholly distraught and depressed. There was a reason. A Beagle puppy. One Sunday morning in September, we heard the whining of a dog close by. From the direction of the sound, I understood that it came from the house just across from ours. I opened our front door and looked out to see a puppy cha

Autobiography Of A Phone 📱 - Oshi Singh

Image courtesy www.saatchiart.com, used for representation only. Hello There! It is the strongest, most powerful thing available on Earth. Yeah, you guessed it right. The modern smartphone. I am sitting at the White House and writing this autobiography. My autobiography!  Well, my journey began 30 years ago, in 1992. When 'IBM' invented the first smartphone called 'Simon'. When Simon succeeded, more of his family was created in the factory.  I was one of the first ones to be created in the factory. While all my brothers and sisters went to different countries. I was still in the United States Of America. I was sitting in a shop watching people, and time passed by. What caught my attention was that most everyone was walking with their parents. I got really fascinated about who my parents might be?  At that moment, I was brutally disturbed by a man who brought me here to the White House. For many months and days, which felt like ages, I was busy thinking about the answer

Gratitude - Rishona Chopra

Image
I am happy because I am grateful. I chose to be thankful. That gratitude allows me to be satisfied.  - Will Arnett Gratitude is to be thankful. We have so many things in our lives to be grateful for. In fact, everything we have we should be happy with! We have a home to live in,  We have goals that thrive,  We have clothes to wear, And we have the education to share! The challenges that we face,  Are just the base, For us to become a divine soul, And reach our primary goal! This poem tells us that there are several things to thank for! Every happy and sad moment is a blessing, the tragic, challenging moments make you more resilient and mature, and the happy ones are for you to enjoy!  The food we eat is a great blessing. Not everyone is lucky to get as delicious food as us. All of us have three meals a day. They sustain and nourish us to sit, move, speak, smile, and complete tasks. It is essential to love and respect what we eat for the way food serves us. We often find ourselves grumb

Space Highlights Of The Month Of August - Rishona Chopra

Image
The new image from the Hubble Space Telescope captures a galaxy named SGAS J143845+145407,  located in the northern Boötes, one of the most prominent constellations in the sky. The mirror image  of the galaxy at the centre of this new photo results from strong gravitational lensing. This astronomical phenomenon  can warp, magnify or even duplicate the appearance of distant galaxies .  "Gravitational lensing occurs when a massive celestial body — such as a galaxy cluster — causes a sufficient  curvature of spacetime for the path of light around it to be visibly bent, as if by a lens,"  according to a statement from the European Space Agency (ESA). "Appropriately, the body causing the  light to curve is called a gravitational lens, and the distorted background object is referred to as being  'lensed.'" At the centre of the new Hubble image, the bright light emanating from SGAS appears as an arc or ring  around either side of the object that lies between the di
