Learning Forward with Naga

                                                       Learning Forward with Naga

A very Happy Birthday to My Good School; it is a joyous occasion as My Good School completes 2 years today. It has been a fabulous journey with stories to listen to, tales to tell and lessons to learn. All of us here are different, but My Good School has brought us closer, erasing the differences. To commemorate this day and cherish it forever, here is the first episode of Season 13, Back to Bharat: In Search of a Sustainable Future. As you celebrate today, listen to Learning Forward with Naga.

Learning Forward with Naga Season 13 Episode 1. Nagaraja (Naga) Prakasam is a versatile and passionate leader with around three decades of global experience. He enjoys growing startups nationwide and being a lead angel investor; he has led 16 deals, invested in 25 startups, served 12 boards, and seen six exits and two write-offs. He also authorizes Back To Bharat – In Search of a Sustainable Future. He spearheaded Impact thinking in the Indian Angel Network and co-founded IAN Impact. His mantra is "Startups should focus on India's strength – People, Problems, Tech (PPT)."

Back to Bharat: In Search of a Sustainable Future is a book that addresses the present economic dilemma for Indian entrepreneurs and consumers, looking at the past and current situation of India and the developed world to find a way forward. Back to Bharat is an inspiring reminder that change is possible - and this is a moment to be a part of the change, for it will take all of us with it.

The Script

No story is ever complete, so with this script!

Anvesha: It's crazy how fast time flies and how things progress around us. We are new to My Good School, but a year has passed. We just didn't realise that.

Simar: That is very true. My Good School has been a milestone for me. It has taught me so much, and I will forever be grateful.

Anvesha: This journey has been incredible, full of learning and love. So today, I Anvesha

Simar: And I Simar

Anvesha: Welcome all of you to the one-year Podcast at My Good School! This celebration would be incomplete without all the interns and our mentors who are a part of this beautiful journey, right?

Simar: Truly, so I invite my friends and interns at My Good School, Rishona, Arav, Yashraj, Vani, Arfa, and Reveda, and we also ask Sandeep, sir.

Anvesha: Hi Rishona, How was my Good school? It has been quite a journey, right?

Rishona:  I absolutely agree. From "Is Your Child Ready To Face The World" By Dr Sibal to Totto-chan, Swami, friends, and now Hari Ghass Ki Chappar Wali Jhopdi aur bona pahad. It has been a journey full of learning, writing, reading and, of course, reflecting. Each of these stories carries its beauty and never fails to leave us with food for thought. I am sure we all agree that My Good School is perhaps unique and has so many outstanding memories! The most memorable part is how we all make the team and work together in coordination.

Simar: I couldn't agree with you more, Rishona. I would like to invite my friend Arav to talk about his experience.

Arav: It has been an amazingly fulfilling experience at My Good School. This 1 year has helped me to explore, learn and know myself better. The books we read together helped me reflect on and taught me how we can inculcate life values in our everyday life. I think somewhere we all could find a part of ourselves in Totto Chan, Swami and Bolu. From reading to working together, My Good School has helped me experience the absolute joy of learning. I am grateful for this beautiful platform.

Anvesha: Thank you for sharing that with us, Arav. The Hindi session is essential in The Sunday School, doesn't it? Let's invite our host for the Hindi session, Yashraj, to answer that.

Yashraj: Yes, indeed. It is an honour to be a part of the Hindi session and, of course, to host it. Yesterday, I was self-assessing and noticed how much I've improved since the Hindi sessions started. I'm sure everyone who has participated in the sessions has benefited in some way or another from our Hindi sessions. Every Sunday, we try to make our sessions more joyful and exciting by adding short trivia and quizzes. In fact, we have decided to write a play based on the book we're reading, with everybody taking up different characters and working together!

Anvesha: Thank you, it was beautiful to hear you say so.

Simar:  What about you, Anvesha? What have you learnt from your one year at My Good School?

Anvesha: My Good School has been a beautiful journey. All of us, the interns of My Good School, have been planted here at the Garden of Learning with so much love and compassion. Every new task is an opportunity to learn, do, and be more. There are numerous things that I have learnt from My Good School that will be impossible to put into a few words, but some of the most important lessons have been: Team Work; I learnt to work with others, collaborate and create. The stories read at The Sunday School left a deep impression on me and made me wonder whether Swami conquered another problem or what Totto-Chan did? I just love it! My Good School is a school we go to every day; it is the school of life, learning and love.

Simar: That's great. For me, my journey at My Good School has been quite exciting. I was very keen to experience real-life work. My Good School has been helpful to me in many ways. It helped me improve my confidence level and my speaking and writing skills. Furthermore, I was introduced to so many others like me! It was a fantastic experience, one I shall never forget and will look back on in the future. But now, living it is beautiful, and I treasure all that I have been taught here, all the people I have been introduced to, and all the insightful books we read together every Sunday!

Anvesha:  Wonderful; now let Reveda and Vani share their experiences at My Good School.

Reveda: My Year at My Good School was great, exciting, significant, fantastic, outstanding, incredible, excellent. I would have put more words into it but let's talk ahead. So, it's brought so many changes in my personality. I can now speak in public fearlessly, yeah, right? It is totally a different concept, I wouldn't call it a School but a Freelancing Group where we can express ourselves in any way we want, and it totally brings my mind out of the box.

Vani:  Definitely. For me, My Good School has been an outstanding learning experience. I love how we all come together from different schools, read, and share our experiences with each other, which in itself is marvellous. This has been an excellent platform where I have encouraged myself to speak out and write poems and stories. It is a perfect place for every young mind to join, and I have been telling my friends to think about it.

Simar: Thanks Reveda and Vani; now let us invite Arfa and Shambhavi to share their learnings over the past year at My Good School.

Arfa:

My time at my good has been fantastic, and I can see how it helped me. When I read in the reading sessions, I increased my reading skills and vocabulary. I was also able to do what I like, writing! I learnt new values each month and improved myself in a good way. In My Good School, I experienced the joy of learning and improved and made myself a better person.

Anvesha: Thank you, Arfa. After hearing you speak, I am sure that all of us love My Good School, but what is your favourite part of My Good School?

Rishona: For me, the favourite part of the session in The Sunday School is the reflection. After the exquisite reading session, it gives me immense pleasure to reflect, share my experiences and write, speak or draw about them. As Claude Monet said, "It's on the strength of observation and reflection that one finds a way. So we must dig and delve unceasingly".

Arav:  My favourite part at My Good School has been exploring different things, from reading to working on podcasts and comic strips and creating posters. I loved working with the podcast team, and with the help of my mentors, I learned to do Podcast and video editing and found my joy through speaking. As rightly said, "The best education does not happen at a desk but at hands-on exploring and real-life experiences".

Yashraj: I, too, love to reflect and share my experiences with everyone! Reading everybody else's articles daily motivates me to work on my articles more and reflect every week!

Vani: My favourite part is the Joy Of Learning Diaries, where we can post our experiences and facts in the form of stories, poems, articles, drawings and even letters! It has helped me a lot in gaining confidence in writing.

Arfa: My favourite part is the reading session of the book 'Art of Focus' in The Sunday School. It is fun to learn new morals through intriguing stories and uplifting quotes!

Simar: My favourite part is making the Podcast. Podcasts are an engaging and fun way to inculcate all we learn in Sunday School. I always enjoy recording and making podcasts as they reflect everything I know. It is such a pleasure for me!

Anvesha: That's great, and the best part about My Good School for me is the Sunday School. We learn much at the Reading sessions, from Swami and Friends to the Art of Focus; all the handpicked tales flow with love and values. Sunday School is a beautiful experience and definitely, my favourite! We invite Sandeep sir and Jugjiv Sir to share their knowledge and favourite part about My Good School?

Sandeep Sir: My first year at My Good School was like starting again from Early Years, from Nursery! New school, new friends and an unknown curriculum added to the excitement. I cannot believe how much we can learn from each other, and a classroom has been flipped from the traditional teacher-led to a comfortable space with students at the centre. This really challenges the conventional schooling system. Reading was just the beginning. What followed was pure joy in reflections through blogs, podcasts, meetings and the internship program. Our school is one living example of spreading the joy of learning. As we move to year, too, it seems excellent times ahead as the students lead, and we add to the curriculum programs like Well-being, Space, using edtech and maybe end up with a virtual school for the world! Thanks to each of you for all the joy you spread, and may you always be the young learners at heart.

Simar: Thank you so much, Sandeep, sir.

Anvesha: With that, we come to the end of our Podcast. Comment below and let us know if you liked our Podcast. If you want to be a part of similar podcasts, join us. That's all for us today. Thanks for tuning in.

We Survived! - Reveda Bhatt

Exactly three years back, on the same date in 2019, my Mom and I met in an accident, as I have mentioned in many of my writings earlier. It was totally unexpected for us but expected in the pages of our destiny, so it happened.

After we were hit and left unconscious on the road, a crowd gathered and out of nowhere came a lady who asked the spectators to put me in her car and hurriedly drove me to the hospital. My Mom was brought to the same hospital by someone else. It is supposed that I was much more hurt and had lost a lot of blood.

My family came to know after a call from my Aunt in the U.S., which somebody else picked up and informed them. My Mom’s and Dad’s families rushed there to find my Mom conscious, but I was not.

My medical stats- State- COMA

Injuries- Diffuse axonal injury (grade IV)

                Temporal lobe fractured

                Skull fractured

                Spine fractured (L1, L2, L3, L4 and L5)

                Pelvis fractured

                The right hand’s radius fractured

                The right leg’s tibia fractured

                Left leg’s tibia crushed.

Condition-Critical.

A Doctor even said,” We don’t know when she’ll wake up, it could be 1 day, 1 month or 1 year, but she’ll not be the same.”

Technically, he wasn’t wrong because I’m not the same anymore.

I came back ALIVE braver, more robust and better!

Today, we call it my second birthday for this new birth and cut a cake.

Lastly, I do not feel that- it was a curse that we met with an accident on this date,

but as a blessing, we came back alive!

Happy Gandhi Jayanti - Rishona Chopra

Gandhi Jayanti is not only used to mark the birth anniversary of Gandhi Ji but of the great things he did. I take pride in saying that Gandhi Ji's teaching made the whole of India proud. Satya and Ahimsa were two of his primary teachings. As in truth and non-violence.

Just like the British used violence, and we tried our best not to and hardly used violence in our life, people may trouble us, but instead of bothering them too, we must stay calm and peacefully resolve things.

Ethical, moral values contrasted by seven sins by Gandhi Ji:
1. Wealth Without Work
2. Pleasure Without Conscience
3. Knowledge Without Character
4. Business Without Ethics
5. Science Without Humanity
6. Worship Without Sacrifice
7. Politics Without Principal

Today let us do just 3 things:
  1. Take content with what we have - Gandhi was not very rich but was still happy and took pride in what he had and who he was.
  2. Stay calm in each situation.
  3. Be peaceful throughout the day.

A Unique Gandhi Jayanti - Oshi Singh

Happy Birthday to the father of the nation resting in heaven! MK Gandhi has taught us many virtues like Ahimsa, Satya, Asteya, Brahmacharya, and many more. He taught us all these great values by not only speaking but by doing and reflecting on them through his actions, like a great leader should. This second October, we celebrate Gandhi Jayanti every year, but what's new? You're just sitting at home yearly, probably watching television, relaxing. Probably Netflix and chilling. But come on, why are you wasting your time when you can do these 3 awesome things to learn more about Bapu and have a fun day ahead!

1. I believe how a person dresses speaks a lot about them? And if we look at Bapu's clothing, it was pretty simple a white dhoti and a pair of sandals. According to me the white clothes symbolises his pure heart and simplicity towards life but do you know why Gandhiji wore that dhoti? Do you think it was fashionable back then? Those who do well you're wrong! That dhoti was made up of khadi fibre which bapu spinned himself using the charkha. This was to boycott the dependency of Indians on Britishers and become self-sufficient and independent.

2. Books and old artefacts are a great and fun way to get to know more about the history. Furthermore why don't you visit a museum this Gandhi Jayanti to learn more about the independence struggle faced by our fellow Indian brothers and sisters. Maybe you could visit the National Gandhi Museum and Library or The Swatantrata Sangram Sangrahalaya.

3. Who doesn't know Gandhiji ke teen bandar. See No Evil - Bura Na Dekho, Speak No Evil - Bura Na Bolo and Hear No Evil - Bura Na Suno. Why don't you play a game with your friends to test each other's knowledge about the teen bandar? The minimum number of players should be 4 out of which 3 will be the bandar and one will be the speaker. You will need three glasses, headphones and a small cloth or scarf to wrap around your mouth. The speaker will call out some phrases and the participants will need to choose the correct action for each spoken phrase. The fastest and the one with the most number of points wins!

These were some ways you could use to celebrate Gandhi Jayanti a little differently this year!

The lyrics

My Good School is one year old this week!

In September 2021, Dr Ashok Pandey gave the whole program a fillip with the My Good School Dil Se show. After that, there was no looking back - Ahlcon Public School, Billabong Thane, Gyanshree Noida, The Doon Girls' School and The Fabindia School - as we found good schools to help spread the joy of learning. Today 435 individuals, teachers and students are part of the My Good School, and we promise they love it!

Joy Of Learning Program, Well-being Program, Happy Teachers, Slooh and Sportify all added values to the school curriculum of the partner schools.

To commemorate our first birthday, we will release the My Good School song soon; the lyrics are beautiful; wait for the release...on all podcast channels worldwide.

Why Go To School? - Rishona Chopra

School. We all have heard about it. What is it? Why do we go there?

A school is where we learn, grow, and work on ourselves. Schools are not a building but are a  building made of education and life. Schools are a place full of knowledge where students learn under the guidance of teachers. They are more than just academics. They focus on making us a good person, an actual human.

Schools are for us to grow and enhance our area of excellence. Therefore, every event in school, every day when we have fun playing games, is probably the best.
I am usually an earnest person, always wanting to do a test (which no one likes). So on the last day of 5th grade, I just had so much fun. With no study and no study, just fun. What made that day even more special was our Principal Ma'am's birthday on that day. So we gave her a card, and we even got toffees! Such small events are so joyful and make the school the best place.

To conclude, school is not just a building but a haven of education, friendship, and happiness.

Friendship - Vihaan Bisht

Friendship is one of the most incredible bonds anyone can ever wish for. Friends have immense care and support for each other. My best friend is Shlok. We both have lots of fun together. We invite each other to our birthdays, but that’s not the only reason why I consider him as my best friend. He is my best friend because he is very kind and he never talks rudely to me. He helps me when I am in a problem. He shares his things with me. What I like most about him because he never thinks that if he helps me, I will also do something in return for him. So a best friend isn’t someone who looks good, but who is at heart. A true friend helps his friend when he is in trouble. I also admire him for his politeness and calmness.

During Corona, we weren’t able to see each other. Lockdown was there, and our school got shut, but now the school is reopening, so I hope to see my best friend again from April.

True Friendship - Aiyra Jain

There was a boy named Aryan. He had a friend named Omran. They had a strong friendship. One day they went to Oliva's birthday party. Oliva was their classmate; she loved Omran but not Aryan. After an hour, she saw that Aryan and Oman were best friends. She decided to break their friendship. She snuck into Aryan's home and cleverly took the phone and sent a few furious videos of Omran to her email ID. She showed them to Omran at lunch, who was shocked and stopped talking to his best friend! Seeing that, Aryan stopped eating. Looking at his condition, his parents took him to another city and settled there.

He transferred to a new school and made a new best friend,' Aditya'. His new best friend was very caring. Their friendship was more robust. By chance, Omran learned what Olivia did and found Aryan. He got to know about Aryan's new best friend. He realised his mistake and moved on.

True Happiness - Ronak Devda

On the occasion of Guru Purnima, there was a worship in Lord Hanuman Temple. On this occasion, kheer, puri, and a vegetable were made as prasad and offered to everyone who visited the temple. A group of people performed bhajans, and little children enjoyed listening to them. It was like a small treat for the poor children who lived nearby. The children who usually expect sweet dishes at some festival in their homes enjoyed them there. This was arranged by my family. Many times to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, or other occasions, we spend a lot of money on parties and hotels. I feel great happiness giving small treats to the needy ones and seeing big smiles on their faces. Further in the future, we will try to arrange these types of treats to have smiles on their faces.

Kindness and Happiness - Laxman Parmar

Within my 17 years of birthday celebrations, I felt like changing my usual way of celebrating this time. Instead of wasting money on cakes and cold drinks, I went to an ashram in Sheoganj, where I found many aged people with some mental issues. I felt pity for them, but I had the last idea about the reason for their mental issues.

Diverting my mind from the sadness, I decided to give them a short phase of joy. I did my cake cutting and served food to all of them, and was overwhelmed on seeing the joy on their faces as it was perhaps their first time they did the birthday cake cutting with someone.

After all the celebration, I received so many expensive gifts from them in the form of kind blessings, then I had to leave them with a goodbye and some beautiful lifetime memories.
