JDS Reflections - My Good School on 15th and 17th Nov 2024

How are humans different from animals?
Humans differ from animals primarily in advanced cognitive abilities, language, culture, morality, and the use of complex tools, allowing for abstract thought, creativity, and societal development.

Selfless Mother's love
A mother's love can not be expressed in words. A mother loves her kids more than anything else in the world. Never wants anything in return from her kids. The finest and purest form of love if anyone can get is the love of one's mother. Also, a child learns more from the hardships his mother has faced in her life. The mother is the only one in the world who ever takes care of her kids. She never thinks of losing them in front of her eyes.

International Mother Language Day- Shambhavi Nautiyal

International Mother Language Day

The indispensableness of knowing our mother language is understood by all of us. It connects us with indigenous culture, people, traditions, and history. It helps us learn where we come from and who our ancestors were, as they are who we are since we are compact from our ancestors. They reside in our bodies, shower us with blessings, and guide us from the subtle realms.

A testament to this is in the fact that we can find fragments of our ancestors in our countenance, devolved virtues and values, how our ancestors can find semblances of them in us and how they can tell with a single glance that we belong to their lineage just by the aura and mien we have may they be dead or alive. To me, connection with my mother language means connection with my ancestors, who may be from a millennium ago or just a generation ago.

The expressions, slang, speech, and literature in their era let me know what kind of people they were, how the times gone were and how it would feel getting to know them. By learning about our mother tongue, we get to know them through word of mouth or writing, which may divulge the allegory of their life, how they reacted to their plight and what I can learn from that.

Even though in the present times we have several translations of our scriptures, and I own to have read them too yet, there is an implicitly distinct sentiment of being connected to your roots, almost like watering the roots of a tree and maybe even discerning how our past life had been like because there is a reason for everything, including why we were born on this part of the universe, belonging to our peculiar ethnicity, may we be aware of it or not.

The reason for that is to learn something new and succeed in our spiritual advancement by picking up something from this realm, the people surrounding us, and the language of our ancestors bequeathed to us. And that's why try at least learning to be fluent in speaking our mother language.

Language - Saikiran Sahu

Language means to communicate,
Not a means to divide and separate.
A medium of joy, sadness,
Not a way to spread distress.

Use it freely, use it wisely,
But not as a weapon to separate us all.
The weapon which holds the power to destroy mankind,
A weapon that has no use of any kind.

Language is a way to communicate,

A way to accept differences-

Where the whole world celebrates this rich diversity
But not a way to spread adversities.

Earth separated by endless boundaries-

With different people, with different countries

but after all, among us, one heart beats
Only one language that the heart speaks

It is the language of love and understanding that it perceives.

The Joy of Appreciation - Aashay Nimish Gaitonde

It always feels great to be appreciated. It is a beautiful feeling when people around you encourage you for the different things you do in life, both big and small. Appreciation motivates you to try harder in whatever you do and be a better version of yourself.
I would like to share a couple of incidents recently that I remember when I was received praise and appreciation.
Winning an inter-school roller-skating race
I once participated in an inter-school roller skating event where I came second in the Finals. I won a trophy & my parents were elated. I have been skating since I was six years old, so it was a wonderful moment. They hugged me and rewarded me by taking me to a “Marvel Studio” to visit my favourite comic superheroes and their film set. Here are some of the pictures taken -
Even today, my mom & dad always take time out to drop me at skating class every day & this motivates me to keep practising and being a better skater day by day!
Securing the First rank in the NELTAS examination
The second incident was when I came first across all schools in India & UAE in a competitive exam for English language (NELTAS). I have been giving this exam for four years & this was the first time I ranked first in the Grand Finale.
I was thrilled when the results came out but was happier when everyone in my family & my teachers appreciated me. They have supported me through thick & thin; hence their applause was all the more special for me.
There are many such times when I have been complimented & supported by my family and friends, even when I have failed. It’s only when you receive such tremendous support that you feel that you can excel in anything you put your mind to!
