Human Quality: Humility - Rishona Chopra

Despite living in a world of widespread competition and arrogance, whenever you come across a humble person, have you said – "What a humble person, it was lovely meeting him." Have you experienced how even a little humility goes a long way in giving love and joy to others? Our success may not please someone, but our humility has a universal appeal. 

We all want to be humble and modest, but sometimes, ego seems to take over, and we end up feeling prideful. The simplest way to check is - When we are humble, we are in the giving mode, radiating our love and purity to others. When there is ego, we shift to the asking way where we want to love and respect. And then we start radiating rejection, anger or hurt. If we are not aware of it, there is a possibility that our ego will surface. Remain calm and stable whether you receive appreciation or criticism. Expectations, competition and comparison, will slowly finish. Every time you act with humility, your ego gets defeated.

There is always someone greater than us, someone better. Often we end up in the trap of jealousy rather than appreciating the person. Appreciation for others shows your modesty and humbleness. Instead of thinking about ourselves, we understand other person's efforts. Values like cooperation and respect come in when we have the base of humility ready.

Quality - Arav Agarwal

Quality is how something or someone is. Everyone has unique qualities, and we need an environment to develop our qualities. At My Good School, we all are building various qualities like leadership, listening, and teamwork. We all can choose the qualities we want within us by being self-aware, responsible, willing to learn and explore and mindful of ourselves and our surroundings.

“Quality is more important than quantity” - Steve Jobs.

Our mentor explained in our mind-body cricket session that it does not matter how many balls you play or the number of overs you bowl, but what matters is the quality of your batting and bowling, as that is what everyone will remember about us.

I feel that our qualities become our character. So, to build these qualities, we want others to remember us as we should be passionate and act with integrity, empathy, kindness and patience, as these are the basic foundations of human values to live a successful and wonderful life.

मेरे जीवन के प्रेरणास्रोत (व्यक्ति) - Oshi Singh

सुश्री डॉक्टर विभा गुप्ता, सेवानिवृत्त प्राध्यापक हिंदी विभाग, कमला नेहरू कॉलेज, दिल्ली विश्वविद्यालय, वह महिला हैं जो मेरी प्रेरणा हैं | वह हमारी पडोसी भी हैं और एक सहृदय और दयालु महिला भी | वे उम्र में मेरी नानी के समान हैं और अनुभव में उनसे कई गुना ज़्यादा |

 जीवन के कई खट्टे - मीठे प्रकरण वो बहुत ही सादा शब्दों में मुझे सुनाती रहती हैं | वो मुझे जीवन में मेहनत , ईमानदारी,आत्मविश्वास ,आशा , निर्भयता और इसी प्रकार के अन्य गुणों का पाठ सिखाती हैं जिनको में बाड़े चाव से सुनती हूँ और अपने जवीन में उपयोग करने का प्रयत्न करती हूँ। अपने पूरे जीवन में उन्होंने सादगी भरा आचरण किया और कभी भी किसी प्रकार के लालच से कोई कार्य नहीं किया। मुझे उन्होंने हमेशा कक्षा में ध्यानपूर्वक पढ़ने के लिए प्रेरित किया। हमेशा यह समझाया की ज्ञान ही ऐसी सम्पति है जिसे कोई चोर चुरा नहीं सकता | यह भी समझाया कि ज्ञान के द्वारा आप जीवन में धन के साथ - साथ समझ और पूर्ण संतुष्टि पा सकते हैं |

मुझे विभा आंटी के साथ उनके महाविद्यालय में गाँधी जयंती के अवसर पर एक कार्यक्रम देखने का मौका मिला | इस दौरान उनको जो आदर अन्य छात्रों तथा शिक्षकगणों के द्वारा मिला उसको देखकर मन में  ख़ुशी हुई तथा मेरे द्वारा उनको अपना मार्गदर्शक मानना सही महसूस हुआ | वैसे तो विश्व में बहुत महान लोग हुए है और सभी लोगो से कुछ न कुछ प्रेरणा ली जा सकती है , परन्तु विभा आंटी ने जितने स्नेह से समय समय पर मेरा मार्गदर्शन किया है उतना किसी अन्य व्यक्ति अथवा जीवनी से पाना काफी मुश्किल होगा | उनका मेरे जीवन में एक यादगार स्थान है | उनका मानना हैं कि मैं आज जो भी हूँ अपने माता पिता और अपने गुरुजनों के आशीर्वाद से हूँ |

A Selfless Person - Yunika Pokharel

The most selfless person in my life is my MOM. I think she is the selfless one because being selfless is that you feel less about yourself and more about others. When you are generous and kind, you think about others before you, have humanity in you, consider others, and then be called selfless.

As for my mom or anyone's, it's the same. Mother always thinks for everyone before her. I want to share an incident with you. Once when my mom had gone out for some work, and when she was back, she bought some eatables for us. My brother was excited, and he started searching for it. When he got it, he had it and went. My mom gave the leftovers to my dad and me.

Later I learned that she didn't have any of the eatables and just gave them to us, although it was her favourite, this thinking of my mother keeping everyone before she makes me feel that she is the one who is selfless in my life.

What have I learnt from My Good School - Shambhavi Nautiyal

What have I learnt from my one year at My Good School?

There are a colossal of amazing things that I have learnt from my one year at My Good School. I read three meaningful and impactful books and got to know three very new authors that helped to make my year a little more bedazzling.

Reading is all about simplicity and beauty, which I was able to experience regularly throughout this year. Though I couldn't reflect much in the written form, as far as I can tell, I did have the chance to go through the whole discussion and analysis in the meetings. I enjoyed expanding my knowledge of articulation and vocabulary and viewing the world through different perspectives. I made new friends and got to know their stories and opinions.

The first book that we read, Dr Anupam Sibal's "Is Your Child Ready to face the world?', was a book that made me dive into the observations and life lessons manifested through the life of the author. I believe it gave me a view of the world I will be stepping into soon. That book made me discern what those virtues meant to me and how I would want to when I grow. Even today, if someone ever asks me about some helpful self-help book recommendations, then I would only ask for that person to give this book a read.

The second book 'Totto-chan, the girl by the window' was written by a Japanese author, Tetsuko Kuroyanagi, a country I admire. This book gave me a view of how childhood is for a Japanese kid, fascinating and adventurous what I was able to make out. The whole book was heartwarming, and it felt like travelling back in time to a different country like I was there. Especially reading these books with all of the My Good School members was fun. It was simply marvellous knowing so many new things every week. I am proud and content with the idea of me being a part of this home-like friendly open programme which is just free of judgements.

It's indeed been a roller-coaster ride, somehow. Apart from everything, there is one thing I can say for sure that one-hour meeting felt like a safe place for other children like me who were interested in the beauty of literature and admired it and lived the stories just the way I did. Now that I think of it, I can't express how much gratitude I feel for being able to be a part of this; looking back at it as a journey of improvisation and learning,

I don't know if I would even be writing anything if it weren't for My Good School. I would have probably thought for it to be something I couldn't do and just wasn't for me, but because of this practice of reflecting, I have enriched and improved that now I can do it anytime, whenever I think of it. It's been a healing experience, and of course, I want to thank the organisers, Sandeep sir, Monisha ma'am, all the interns who have put so much effort into making this a success and the other members who joined, which always made the meeting come up alive.

Ce que l'indépendance signifie pour moi - Rishona Chopra

L'indépendance n'est pas le droit de faire ce que l'on veut mais le droit de faire ce qui est juste. L'indépendance est l'essence de la liberté, le sentiment que nous ne sommes gouvernés par personne d'autre mais que nous avons la possibilité, tout comme les autres, d'explorer et d'apprendre. L'indépendance est un droit qui est beru fondamental et notre besoin mais de nos jours ce besoin est devenu un désir. Beaucoup de gens n'ont pas l'indépendance nécessaire pour prendre leurs décisions dans la vie, faire ce qu'ils veulent, étudier et ne pas vivre sous la domination de quelqu'un. Alors ne prenons pas notre indépendance pour acquise car c'est quelque chose de spécial.

Translation:

Independence is not the right to do as we wish but the right to do what is right. Independence is the essence of freedom, the feeling that we are not ruled by anyone but have the opportunity, just like others, to explore and learn. Independence is a fundamental right and our need, but nowadays, this need has become a want. Many people don't have the independence to make their decisions in life, do what they want, study and not live under the rule of somebody. So let's not take our independence for granted because it is unique.
