Making Others Happy - Avni Kochhar

Hi, My name is Avni Kochhar, and I will share my personal experience of "Making Others Happy" From the beautiful book 'Is your child ready to face the world?" by Dr Anupam Sibal

You see, Making people happy might seem difficult unless you have already done it before. My friends, Enemies, Best friends, Bff's and probably everyone has been sad at some point. So there must have been somebody that has cheered you up from those sorrowful few minutes of your life. May it be family, friends, or even anybody.

In this story, I learned how Disney created his very own Disneyland empire and Made thousands and thousands of smiles upon Kids and even Adults! See, Disney's goal was to make smiles and not money. This should be the goal of every human in the world - To make smiles!

"The Happiest People are the ones who make others happy."

We all constantly wish to be happy, but do we know how to attain it or is it just a state of euphoria we are running after? We need riches to satisfy our greed, but not our happiness. Happiness can be even ensured by a meal, a gesture or a smile but what matters the most is that you are aware of what makes you happy. Happiness is not an extreme feeling that may appear in a rare situation; it may be as subtle as your smile when you discern the blossoming flowers in your garden, or it may be a state of gaiety while riding up a roller coaster ride. Happiness has many faces; it is up to us to seek the right one.

As humans, one of our traits has always been to be self-centralized, but sometimes we need to step away from the centre and see the scene from a spectator's perspective. The agony of the common masses can change the ideology of a man; when we have so much but are still not happy whereas they are satisfied with the little they have, then we understand the true worth of happiness. Our happiness is nothing compared to theirs, but all we can do is make them happy.

Some extraordinary people who paved the path for others to be happy are Walt Disney and Charlie Chaplin. Walt Disney is not merely a name. It has been a hope for people anticipating a joyful day, his contributions have been cherished through generations, and his works have lit up smiles on millions of faces. Charlie Chaplin was another cause for the ringing laughter of many. His distinctive yet humorous style had been admired worldwide, and his playfulness with pain made him an exceptional actor and a humble human being.

All of us have our own unique ways to be happy, it may be by cooking a meal, going on a shopping spree or simply spending time alone. We can be satisfied, but the greater joy lies in making others happy. For instance, when I used to call my cousin to wish her on Christmas, this year I went the extra mile to make her a card and send it by post all the way to her home. Her smile was worth the effort, and the satisfaction I received after her response cannot be accurately described in a few words.

The Beauty of Life does not depend on how happy you are, but how happy others can be because of you...

Making Others Happy - Arindita

Making others Happy is a quality each and every one of us should have. It is a very simple action that can make a big difference. All you need to do to make someone happy is do whatever positive action you can to bring a smile to their face. You would even notice that the more you bring happiness to others the happier you will get. It is just the positivity you and the person are sharing. At times you may not be having a very great day, you might be upset or unhappy because of something. Sometimes we even say hurtful things, but it will do nothing but make the person and even you upset. So whenever you feel down try to bring yourself up, try to do something that makes others as well as you are happy.

The more you practice this action the happier you and the people around you would be. So make others happy and find joy while doing so.

Making Others Happy - Aanya Kumar

In the reading session on 16/1/2022, I understood that Making others happy makes you happy.

In the words of Mother Teressa, "Spread love everywhere you go. Let no one ever come to you without leaving happier." Truly making others happy, the smiles light up our day. One such person who made others happy was Charlie Chaplin. You must remember how he made you laugh in his TV shows or another medium.

His father died, and his mother developed a severe illness when he was of very little age. The pain he experienced made his mind divert to humour. By hiding his pains and making others smile, he became happier himself.

As most people say, make others happy, and you will be satisfied. We should practice making others happy by simple acts such as giving old clothes or food to those who need it. It makes them happy, and that light upon their face enlightens our day.

Making Others Happy - Rishona Chopra

Based on the chapter Making others happy from Is Your Child Ready to Face the World by Dr Anupam Sibal.

In the previous chapter, we read about Compassion. Little acts of Compassion can change someone’s life. The most beautiful act of Compassion that might look very small but is actually difficult is making someone happy.

There are so many problems in life; I am not talking about those minor problems like a fight with someone or things like that. I am talking about significant issues like, at a very young age, a person had a severe illness and had to undergo several surgeries! That is a natural and essential problem.

The key to making someone happy is simply hoping! In all tough times, all one needs is hope. Like in the above example, imagine what the child must be going through. What you can do is just give him hope that he can survive, and he will. If you can do that, then you are a doctor! Not one who heals people physically but one who heals people emotionally.

I have never done such a big act, but I have made a few people happy. When one of my friends got severely hurt and was crying, I helped her by giving her first aid and then giving her emotional strength as other children made fun of her for crying. I told her that it was ok; such things kept happening, making her happy.

The most significant act of kindness and Compassion can be making others happy, and the key to doing that is to give someone hope.
