The Butterfly - Rishona, Mahir, Kabeer, Diva and Anisha

A butterfly roaming in the flower sector,
Going flower to flower to collect some nectar.
They fly with their colourful silky wings,
They fly when the nightingale sings.

Oh! How beautiful it is when its colours shine!
And when I catch it, it will always stay mine.

When it flies around me,
It's so glorious, I see.
Oh, what a joy it is, a butterfly.
I know it will never lie.

They fly so high,
It feels like they could touch the sky.
Pretty and sweet,
Always clean and neat.

In the end, butterflies are amazing creatures,
They have so many beautiful features.

Hope - Rishona Chopra

Hope is when I think positive,
Thoughts that are affirmative,
Probably in my tough times,
Just want something that rhymes,
With my thoughts,
I just want to untie all the knots.
When hope is heard,
The hard times fly like a bird!
Even in my dream,
I think of hope's long stream.
The tough times shall pass,
As they soon break like glass.

Happy Mother's Day - Rishona Chopra

This is for you,

When anything happened, you knew.
You taught me to be true,
And that’s how I grew

You cared for me,
You are the one that makes me feel free!
The kindest one ever,
When I needed you, you were always there whatsoever.

I love you more than anyone,

Yes, you are the very one!

Tomoe Gakuen - Aanya Kumar

A school on a train does sound weird. But, according to Totto-chan, it could be real fun. Tomoe Gakuen was full of fun-filled surprises for all its students.

I would like to present this poem on Tomoe Gakuen:

Tomoe Gakuen, an unusal school,

With train boogies as its classrooms.

With no rules for studying or going in the pool,

To the students, it seemed relatively cool.

Totto-chan was expelled,

Mother was worried.

She had to find a new school,

An unusual one indeed!

Tomoe Gakuen, was fit for Totto-chan,

As her day at the new school quickly began.

Totto-Chan was happy and had hights to seek

And I’d say the school was pretty unique.

An Illusionary Friend

(Poem Based on the value of the month of May - Hope)

An ingenuine crowd always around,

But I talked to an illusion and the voice reverted sound:

"Everything'll  be fine one day",

"You'll also see a sunshine ray"

Illusion was optimistic, if it sustained,

And this was how my hope maintained

Echoes were growing familiar

And set off a voice which I always wanted to hear.

Was this smart cookie an acointier?

It (so -well- knew-me) triggered in a brief encounter.

Why did it only linger in the twilight?

Was it an elf who sank into the obscure eyesight?

And it was growing so intimate,

When I closed my eyes, it dwelled and dominate.

Finally, I transcended my contemplation

A soul's voice misapprehended for illusion!

Empathy - Rishona Chopra

Empathy is understanding others' feelings and reacting accordingly. It is to feel what they are feeling, to be in their shoes.

We often misunderstand Empathy and Sympathy. Sympathy is when we feel pity for someone, while Empathy is feeling what the other person thinks and helping them out. If your friend won a basketball match, you can understand his feelings and be happy for him and celebrate his happiness. Even if you hate basketball, after being happy for him and by making him happy, you feel good too. This is where Empathy connects with Making Others Happy.

The above picture shows how two people can connect and understand each other as one. This is all because of Empathy.

Here is a poem I wrote on Empathy:

Empathy is something so strong,
It senses when something is wrong.

It connects us together,
And we become as calm as the weather!

I know how you feel,
And we can together heal.

I feel your pleasure and pain,
But empathy is a feeling, and it's hard to explain.

Understanding each other's feelings,
makes you look appealing,

it helps you make friends,
and makes fights end!!

It might be a bit difficult,
but it's nothing different.

Everyone should understand it,
at least a little bit!!

Totto-chan: The Little Girl At The Window - Rishona Chopra

She looked out of the window,
She is a cute little fellow,

Opened the desk drawer again and again,
But she had a smart brain!

She called the street musicians,
Talked like a bold magician.

She was extraordinary indeed,
And did everything at top speed

Talked to Swallows,
And she was smart enough to find hidden barrows!!

This extraordinary girl is none other than Totto-Chan,
She is always ready with a plan! Rishona Chopra Grade VI Gyanshree School

'If I'd Known It Then' poem by Malvika Mishra

'If I'd Known It Then.'

When midnight dawns and I lie in my bed,

When all is quiet, safe yet dark,

I travel to places near and far

But perhaps my favourite is a land called 'The Past',

Where there are no deer, no ponds, no trees,

Many and much has been lost here, for here it floods memories.

And as I swim my way through the past, I wish I'd known it Then

That a merry day too shall face an end,

For Fate and Time will take it away

That later, I'll wish but every day

'If I'd known it Then ….'

And I think how selfish of Time it is,

For it keeps what is gone, all to itself

And what is to come, it refuses to tell

And yet how generous of Time it is,

To give us what we have Now, to provide us with what we have in hand,

We can choose to make it a mere 'now' or decide to make it grand.

And this I shall not forget,

So, for now, I'll be happy, I'll smile,

I'll take a step down a road that is long a hundred miles,

For I know, I'll wish I'd been happier Now,

When I'm on my last step and in pain,

But, alas, I can not do that now; for now, I wish I'd known it then.

To whosoever is reading this,

This poem is incomplete; I did all that I could do,

But although I poured my heart out, there's not much a poem can hold true…

Gratitude - Rishona Chopra

I am happy because I am grateful. I chose to be thankful. That gratitude allows me to be happy.

- Will Arnett

Gratitude is to be thankful. We have so many things in our lives to be grateful for. In fact, everything we have we should be happy with! Here is a poem on gratitude.

We have a home to live in,
We have goals that thrive,
We have clothes to wear,
And we have the education to share!

The challenges that we face,
Are just the base,
For us to become a divine souls,
And reach our primary goal!

This poem tells that there are several things to thank for! Every happy and sad moment is a blessing, the sad, challenging moments make you more resilient and mature, and the happy ones are for you to enjoy! I am so glad because of my connection with God. He probably thought I was a bit stubborn but could quickly learn, so he gave me a happy life with a few little challenges!

Appreciation - Miraya Bhatia

Let us let us appreciate
Let us believe in appreciation’s fate
Let us appreciate things now
You may ask how should we appreciate

For being appreciated, you need to appreciate
Always remember you need to believe in its fate
Let us appreciate every blessing
Trust me, it is worth expressing.

A play in life - Rishona Chopra

Every single day,

you have a new play!

A play you have to face in your life,

and that play helps you shine bright!

It's just one of the difficulties that help make you stronger,

Every situation you face makes you an explorer.

Of life

This play that this small poem talks about is basically a challenging situation. Even when we have a group project and have a fight with our friends, that is a play, where we have to face the challenge and find the solution that helps us grow our values and others. When we are strong enough to meet these minor problems, we won't have difficulty facing more significant issues and become the explorer of life.

Friendship - Aavansh Gupta

There is a ship in which is a friend,

It will not let you drown,

There is a ship where there is a friend,

On our face, It will not give a frown.

He will play with you,

Not making us sad

Not fighting with us

Not making you mad

So I say that everybody

Should have a friend

Who will stay with you from the starting

Till the end

Friendship - Advita Chauhan

Friends, I will tell you my experiences of friendship. My first friend and my best friend in my class is Anika. Now with her help , everyone has become my friend. Today I will tell you about Anika and my experience. We became friends online via our laptops.

One day at 7o'clock we planned to meet on google, then I said – "Anika, today I want to play something new. My mother made a game of money. Let's play that." Then Anika said, "Ok, Advita, let's play your game." We started playing this game.

Do you know how we play this game?
I took a paper, then I became a shopkeeper, Anika became a customer, and we exchanged money. We learn new things with each other by exchanging our ideas and thoughts.

We talk to each other, and we like each other's company. I am happy that I have a friend like Anika.

Now I will share a poem with you:
The beginning of a beautiful friendship

One day while I was playing, a knock came on the door.
I saw a little girl peeping from the hole.
She said take me in your game,
And make me your friend.
I will listen to everything,
Just make me your friend.
I said, come in, no need to worry.
We are your friend, don't cry, my buddy.
Then we both played,
And our friendship stayed,
That's how our beautiful company was made!!

Empathy - Rishona Chopra

Empathy is to understand one's feelings. Having empathy is a unique quality as understanding one, especially when you are having a fight with someone, is difficult. Empathy is essential; it helps you understand your feelings, know them better, and help make friends. It also enables you to get out of small fights.

Here is a short poem I wrote on empathy-

Understanding each other's feelings,
makes you look appealing,
it helps you make friends,
and makes fights end!!

It might be a bit difficult,
but it's nothing different.
Everyone should understand it,
at least a little bit!!

Friendship - Arjun Verma

Friendship is one of the things that is very nice,

And it also doesn’t have a price,

If you have a friend in your land,
He will definitely lend a hand,

So, everyone, make a friend,
They will be someone on whom you can depend.

The unprivileged - Rishona Chopra

Having trust,
And create a new bond,
And respond,
Is simply to adjust,

To the silent cries,
And let them rise,
They shall know that they are worth,
They are here on this Earth,

To create a future,
They don’t need a ruler,
They are much more than we think,
But we make them shrink!

Wonder who ‘they’ are in this poem? They are the unprivileged who are shown useless from their looks and way of living, but they are, after all, humans, suitable? They have taken birth on this Earth so they have as much right as we do. We have ignored their silent cries even knowing that they can change the world with a bit of education. We just need to trust them.

War - Rishona Chopra

War

War causes nothing but destruction,
It causes the same fear as a huge volcanic eruption,

The only difference is that we can stop war,

And create the world a bright star!

Our ego leads to greed and selfishness, And that leads to evilness. If only we would understand, That what we claim for is just land!

Ruling and having power isn't needed, Because that, for others, is being badly treated, We all are equal, And having equality is not illegal,

Then why not stop war, And have a good happy year!

"If war can be started by lies, it can be stopped by truth."

Life - Rishona Chopra

Life

Life is a dream,

It flows as fast as a stream.
We must decide our aim,

Life is like a game.

You shall face obstacles,

But you have to be the constable,

Face your struggles like a warrior,

Who wants to cross the barrier.

Just have a little courage,

And never be discouraged.

Have hope,

And you’ll be able to climb life’s tough slope!

Freedom - Aayan Biswas

Aayan Biswas, VI-B, Ahlcon Public School
I have a hobby of reading books on fiction and mystical lands. I write stories and poems as I find writing the best way to express my feelings and tell people what I think. I really enjoy writing and reading as it is delightful.

Freedom

He committed a crime and had paid a fine,

I went to jail and waited for bail.

He drove cars and ate a chocolate bar,

I trotted all day; even my birthday passed away.

He ate burgers and French fries,

I had eaten some bread and plain rice.

He had friends and family,

While I had no one beside me.

Framed me for a crime that he had done,

They didn’t let me say a word, not even one!

As I rotted in a black box,

He went hiking and climbed rocks.

I had soon lost all hope and might,

My life was all black and not a spot of white.

Suddenly, I saw a beautiful sight.

Justice was served, right and well,

I was freed, and he was confined.

Everything had changed after such a long time,

It felt as it was the first time the sun had shone!
