Peace - What it means for us?

Thank you to all who joined us today; we are over 100, and you will see up to 75 names; there were many sharing devices, for which we are most grateful.

 [25/09/22]
We look forward to more quotes. Our value of the month is PEACE. Is it different from the piece?

Avni Kochhar

"Peace means everyone being treated equally. Peace means harmony."

Shambhavi Nautiyal

A piece can be a piece of mind, but peace is much more than that. It's trust between two individuals; it's having self-belief and perception of yourself. If you have made peace with yourself and your mind, you can have a whole new vision of the world, and simply nothing can go wrong.

Rishona Chopra,

Peace is one virtue we must maintain in the smallest of things. Even sharing a piece of cake will have to be shared with peace as we tend to fight over the smallest of things, neglecting that this small piece of cake can ruin our relationships.

Peace, for me, is when you gain complete self-confidence without worry or fear. It is mental strength and brings happiness to me.

Peace allows us to overcome our problems. It will help us to live the best of all possible lives, and "Never let anyone destroy your inner peace".

Peace begins with a smile.

My Aspirations - Gaurangi Rastogi

Childhood has been miserable,

Because you have to learn something basic,

When we grow up as a teen

I got pressured to top the boards

I got pressured to become a doctor

Will the world still accept if I am something else?

I feel like running away from home,

I think I am not safe in my home sweet home,

I want to speak to this world,

I have my aspirations,

To change the mindset of the people

Who judges me based on occupation,

Who are you to control me?

I am a phoenix who takes the rebirth from its ashes

Which is from its failures.

If you control me,

I will control you every time,

As you made my life miserable

I will make yours,

At the end of the story

I have my aspirations!

My World of Stories - Anvesha Rana

The Library may be better and far,
but the one at my home, to it, has no par.
The Library may have more books,
but the one I have has more love but no looks.

I love my library,
may it be small or short,
but life is also not counted by years but by friends,
a library is not counted by books but ends.

The friends in the corner of my room,
the lessons in life loom,
The Library has taught me everything,
from love to compassion, all of them ring.

I have a friend called Harry Potter,
a mate Percy Jackson,
I know a lovely man who is Morrie Schwartz,
and the most beautiful Totto-Chan.

The Library has opened my world,
it may have been small once,
but now it's twice that same once.

Let's all read,
for one life may be monotonous,
but hundreds will make that one super anonymous.

A Trip To a Hot Spring - Amaira Bhati

It was getting dark when all the children of Tomoe Gakuen were ready for a three-day trip. It was almost time for dinner when all fifty students had finally arrived. The Headmaster hadn't brought along any food supplies with him, and he had an amusing thing for the students to do.

The Headmaster sent all the kids to buy the veggies and fish. He knew that some kids would be afraid of this, but he wanted to make them experience the essential things in life. This simple action of buying vegetables could make them more open and make them learn more about doing calculations.

People at the market were eating their food and asking the students about them, and the students were supposed to reply politely. Some students took all the fish and veggies, but others either got lost or didn't get it. Some children went missing and had even cut their feet in the sand since it was filled with glass. This might have not been fun for some students, but in the end, it enclosed a lesson for life.

When it was time to go back, everyone was sad that the trip was over, but they couldn't stay there forever…Half of the students slept on the way around, and the other half could not stop talking about this beautiful memory of the hot spring trip.

Tomoe Gakuen - Anvesha Rana

I wish I were a student at Tomoe,
so free and yet so connected,
I could have met the headmaster,
and made friends with Totto-Chan.

If I were a student at Tomoe,
I would have visited the Hot Spring,
while enjoying the new bling.

The Souvenir photo would have cracked me up,
and the Oops boy would have been a fun hub,
I really wish I were at Tomoe,
for it would be so lively.

If I were at Tomoe,
I would have learnt Eurythmics,
Though it would be funny to be so Rhythmical.

I do wish I were at Tomoe,
but I already have my own right here,
which is My Good School!

Totto-chan: The Little Girl at the Window - Amaira Bhati

Tetsuko Kuroyanagi is from Japan. She was born in 1933 and is 88 years old. She wrote Totto-chan in 1982. On May First, we started reading the book. This story is about a little girl named Totto-chan, who is strong-willed yet kind-hearted, compassionate yet unwavering in principle. Totto used to go to a school where she had a strict teacher, and the teacher often observed her very carefully. Totto-chan always used to shut her desk; she would bang it with a big noise. Totto never used to sit on her chair; she would stand near the window every time her teacher was teaching. One day her teacher held an activity of making the flag of Japan and the teacher kept roaming around the class looking at her students' drawings, but when she saw Totto-chan’s drawing, she was very disappointed. Totto had made her flag in many colours, she made strokes and flinches around the flag, and her flag was so big that she drew some flinches on the table. It took them some severe trouble to rub it off.

Another day Totto-chan went out of the window and started talking to someone. When her teacher leaned out to see who she was talking to, the teacher caught her talking to birds who were making their nests. Her teacher was so frustrated by Totto's behaviour that she held a meeting with her mother, and the teacher told everything about Totto-chan’s mischief. The teacher told her mother that she didn't want to make a nuisance out of her class, so she had to expel Totto-chan from the school.

Totto-chan’s mother didn’t tell her anything about being expelled from school. She told Totto that she would be going to another school, which would be even more fun. So they went off to a new city, a new school, and a new beginning. Toto was so excited about going to her new school by train. She sat quietly on the train, but when the ticket collector came and asked Totto-chan for her ticket instead of handing in the ticket, questions had now popped up in her inquisitive mind, but the ticket collector snatched the ticket away from her. Totto-chan’s mother was very worried about Totto’s admission. Her mother took her hand and said that they couldn't be late because ahead of them, the gate of a small school was gradually coming into view in the distance.

Just Dance! - Anvesha Rana

Anyone who meets me probably knows that Dance has a special place in my heart. I don't think there was ever a time when I wasn't dancing, and I can't imagine how my Life would be without Dance. I started learning Dance at the age of 6; initially, I used to learn Kathak, and after completing Kathak, I pursued another classical dance, Bharatanatyam. Both Bharatanatyam and Kathak are ancient classical dances with diverse backgrounds and styles. I love all types of dances, be it western or classical, because Dance is one of those ways through which I can express myself freely. To Dance is to be out of yourself. Be Larger, More Beautiful, More Powerful, and this is the power; it is glory on earth, and it is yours for the taking. All of us need to dance; it is a true joy. Dancing takes place not only on the stage, but it actually takes place in Life, as we dance and leap through all the problems we face. When we dance, our purpose should not be that we are seen; instead, it should be to enjoy each step along the way.

Dancing has changed my Life; it has enabled me to look beyond academics and explore new things. Dance really interests me; it helps me out when I am stressed and uplifts my mood after a bad day. When we do something different from what most others do, we unlock a path of creativity that is only known to us. Dance is much more than a hobby for me; it is the fire that keeps me burning and the zeal that keeps me ignited for trying out something new. Dance is a way to have fun for me; it is a method to connect with the Indian heritage and relive history in a few moments. Through dancing, I have also learned the importance of hard work and discipline. Learning any skill or art form is not easy; all Classical dances are extremely technique-driven, and technique has to be mastered before moving on and learning more complex pieces. When I started learning Dance, I wanted to grow to the best of my potential and practised well to learn more. At the end of the day, it didn't matter what level I would reach. I just wanted to know other complex pieces that challenged me as a dancer. When the waters get testing, I recall how I had worked for Dance and how my hard work has paid off; this thought sparks the trigger in me to continue hard work and discipline.

I simply love Dance, and my emotions when I dance cannot be accurately described in a few words. Don't dance for anyone, Dance for yourself and Dance as if no one is watching you. Dance with Life, Dance with laughter, Dance with sadness and a little bit of joy. Replace the heaviness of Life with the lightness of a free-spirited dancer. When you dance for a moment, keep aside all your worries, concerns and problems, enter the stage with a focused mind and a light heart and after that, let the music take you forward. Dance is just following the rhythm to the beat, and once you know how to do that, you have mastered Life.

Dance with the waves,

Move with the sea,

Let the rhythm of the water,

Set Your Soul Free.

Happiness - Linisha Agarwal

What happiness means to me?
Not everyone has a similar point of interest from which they derive happiness.  For me, happiness means fun, enjoyment, blissfulness etc. Happiness is a feeling of contentment, that life is just as it should be.
Happiness is when you fulfil your goals or aims. That feeling to me is happiness. When I am thrilled, I feel that I am IN SEVENTH HEAVEN.

What gives me happiness?
I feel like having a whale of a time when my brother teases me, it is too much fun to ride a roller-coaster or other kinds of dangerous slides, and when I spend time somewhere out of town with my family, it makes me feel like I am on the top of the world. Cycling when a light wind blows along with some music surely refreshes my mood, so you can say that I am happy at that time. And last but not least, Playing PS4 with my brother is fun.

How can we make a person happy?
Frequently, cities tell you to donate to charities rather than giving to panhandlers. That is great advice but listen to your inner voice. You should give to a particular person, as this may make someone who is genuinely in need very happy. We can spread happiness by saying ‘Thanks’; by donating items to needy ones; gifting presents because everyone loves presents; listening to people when they talk, so many times all people want is someone to listen to them. Instead of fighting it, just sit and let them talk. Caring for someone is the best way to make others happy, and in turn, I, too feel happy.
