Future Generation & The Present - Nishan Karki

When we talk about the future generation, do we also need to work on the present altogether?

“Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment.”                                                      -  Buddha

We spend a lot of time thinking about our future generation. However, we also need to think about and work on our present side by side. Working on present needs is crucial for the betterment of our future generations. The future of our generation depends greatly on our present deeds. Our present paves the way for our future and that of our generation.

To make our generation's future better, we need to tackle the present problems. Our earth is facing many environmental problems such as climate change, increasing global warming, depletion of various resources, pollution, etc. Unless we tackle our present issues, we will not be able to improve the future of our upcoming generations.

For instance, if people are very poor, they will not be able to provide a better lifestyle for future generations. Before thinking about the future, they should work on their present needs. They must at least have the basic means of livelihood. If they remain poor and do not work to improve their present conditions, their future generation will have to suffer.

Creating a peaceful society is very important for our future generation; Creating a society that values people and their sentiments, fosters the development of a peaceful society. People living in a society must have mutual co-operation, respect sympathy, trust, kindness and compassion for each other.

If our thoughts and actions are positive, our future generation will also be the same. It is important to ensure that our generation thinks positively and does things positively. No one wants their generation to do wrong things. People have a strong faith that their future generation will be a good and peaceful one. We should work to create a clean environment (focusing both on the ecosystem and positive thoughts/ actions) for our future generations.

Life is a splendid torch not a brief candle - Tenzin Jambey

Life is lovely and enjoyable; now it's in our hands whether we want to make it even more peaceful or let life burden us. It doesn't matter whether you are poor or rich; life will look perfectly fine if you are grateful for whatever you have.

Our life is like an impressive torch that can bring light to the lives of others. We can shine brightly and chase the shadows away. We get to live our life for once, but let not our one life affect our beautiful journey. Let's not be sad thinking that we will die soon; everyone has to leave this world behind and die and become part of the soil of the earth beneath.

We know life is short; in today's world, half our age passes through pursuing education and skills, but we forget to liberate ourselves. Schooling teaches us the way to answer others and the way to work under someone and in this process, a child is never able to discover his own literature and interests.

We come under pressure to think about our future, our career, family and so on. The term life is very wide and we can achieve what our hearts really desire except attraction and greed.

That's so obvious that school studies will hunt you down and occupy your whole body if you don't connect your subject with your daily routine and your interests. When your subject is connected with your interest then every second of your life becomes memorable.

It's in our hands whether you want to make your life like a dying candle or like a bright light that shines and radiates peace.

The key to language is to learn every aspect of music that we can - Pallavi Kumari

.

Reading is most important.

The key to language is learning every aspect of music we can. We should enjoy our present and make our future better. In our daily lives, we need to invest in sharpening our skills to get going with our well-being. You spend a little time learning what living in someone else's shoes is like. I don't like reading books, but when I started joining good schools, I thought it would be interesting to read a book.

Books are like people in the sense that they'll turn up in your life when you most need them, and books are like mirrors; you only see in them what you already have inside you. If you dislike reading, you have yet to find the right book. I read a book one day, and my whole life was changed. Books are uniquely portable magic. TODAY, A READER, TOMORROW, A LEADER. A room without a book is like a book without a soul. A book is a gift you can open again and again.

We are not the master of our fate, we can only make our future better - Tenzin Jambey

Some people say that we are the masters of our fate, and we can create our future however we want it to be. I'll believe that I am the master of my fate, but I can only contribute my efforts and good deeds to make my future better. I strongly believe that our destiny and fate are things that no one can evaluate or change. Sometimes I feel like God has control over our future and destiny; therefore, some people don't get success or achieve the things they want, and even those who love each other don't get to spend their lives together.

Now, shall I say that we are masters of our fate? If we were masters of our fate, why don't some people get things they want. "Your future is in your hands," my teacher said, and I thought, If my future is in my hands, then what will happen if I die suddenly? In this case, shall I say I am master of my fate? Our future is unknown; we people can only guess the future but never calculate it. Time is the medium that breaks the law. "I am master of my fate". It is so well said by someone that "time is a changer of seasons." With time, losers can become winners and winners can become losers. As said, we cannot evaluate our future but only guess what it will look like.

Time and the future are just perfect, full of excitement, adventure, journey, battle, sad and happy events, and many, many more. If I were to choose between becoming a master of fate or staying without the ability to control fate, I would choose to be an ordinary person without any powers to control fate. I love the journey of life, which with full of adventure, challenges, new experiences, and facing and overcoming things that I never dreamed about. I feel so delighted, and it gives me huge happiness and satisfaction when I think about what my friends and I will become in the coming future. As I said, we can only guess about the future; similarly, sometimes I give a shot at guessing what my friends will become. I wonder if some of them might become YouTubers, engineers, doctors, nurses, footballers, scientists, social workers, and other things that I had never heard of.

The best thing about our lives is that the future is unknown, which makes everyone treat the other person equally. Who knows, someday the other might become the most respected person in the whole world.

My Contribution To Change The World - Monika Pundir

Changing the world doesn't mean that a person has to change the whole world at once; it can be done by making minor changes in their society that would help spread the changes.

I would like to contribute to changing the world by teaching basic things about life to the poor people in our society. Teaching them the meaning of one's value in life, how important life could be, and how it would affect the future.

My Contribution To Change The World - Pasang Sherpa

We can contribute to changing the world in a diverse manner. So I prefer to contribute to this objective by opening schools in rural areas.

Keeping in mind, how much social importance education has in this modern, complex industrialised society. It helps in imparting values, and reforms attitudes in children, and most importantly it is of vital importance.

But before contributing toward changing the world, one should know that revolutionizing the world is not so easy. One cannot change the world by himself/herself. The world is mammoth, it is changeless until everyone joins their hands together.

Peer Pressure: What's Its Future? - Oshi Singh

Thinking about how the human race started has always intrigued me but do you know something that intrigued me even more?

It's thinking about the future. Will there be flying cars? Will there ever be robot teachers? Will we ever live in an AI-dominated world? Well of course these are all questions that I often think about but how awesome would it be if all of this turned into reality?

However, this would only be possible if today’s youth or may I say ‘Gen-Z’ is ready to face the future. When I say face, I mean they are in a healthy condition, mentally as well as physically. We were all teenagers once.

Teenage is the period where a child builds his/her character and it is also the period when everything hits us all at once. We experience a lot of changes. During this time it can be hard to keep up with stuff now be it academically or in any other field. That is when we hear phrases like, ‘You only live once’, ‘You have one life, live it.’ or ‘It’s now or never.’ Phrases like these are what make us want to try something new every day.

We follow these phrases with blindfolded lyrics and they become our mantras. Not to mention the constant fear of being left out if we don’t do ‘exactly’ what others are doing. Forget if it’s good or bad we have to do it because if we don't we’ll be left out. I believe it is safe for me to say that teenagers undergo a lot of pressure. Doing well under academic pressure, thinking about future pressure, doing co-curricular activity pressure and all this adds up to the pressure of fitting in.

At this very moment, we get introduced to all kinds of bad stuff. Alcohol, drugs and whatnot! “Try a little bit”, “A little won’t harm you.” Well, trust me that little bit is what harms every single time. Peer pressure has become a growing concern in today’s generation. The day-to-day reduction of “Self-Control” in youngsters is often what takes them on a trip to heaven.

I strongly believe that a lack of knowledge is like a crossroads with no signal and once learned it is very hard to unlearn. Many youngsters start drinking to become what they think is cool only to realize later in life that they have become addicted. Which in turn takes them on the road of cancer and mental instability.

The family environment & communication play a considerable amount of role in a child's future. Imagine the life of a child born into a very respectable family. He/She will automatically learn good virtues and how to present himself/herself in public. Although, living in a world with about 8 billion people you can’t guarantee on behalf of everyone but we ‘can’ guarantee for ourselves.

What if we become a good influence in someone’s life? Their temporary conscience. After all, it is always the little acts of kindness that make a difference.

So let us all step up and help each other rise. I am sure if we do this we will be living in a developed world instead of a developing one very soon.

A Letter from a Little Girl with Big Problems!!! - Aria Gupta

Opanari Society,
Sec 198, Panlangarh

12 july, 2023

Dear Aanya

How’re you doing, sis?

Everything has been challenging since Mom and Dad died in the car accident. We all hope that you’re not going through the same. We’ve shifted to a small, rented apartment in the Opanari Society. Grandma has been trying really hard to make a living for us. Happy 10th birthday to me, but no one other than her and you actually care, and both of you are busy. I could really use a friend here, but everyone calls me rude and selfish. No one could really understand me. I couldn’t do anything for anyone because of our situation, which made it hard to make new friends. So I’ve decided to focus more on my grades. I want to make a better future for us. I want to ensure that our current situation is hidden forever and is never found by anyone.

I honestly feel this brutal feeling of jealousy that makes me feel sad and angry about our situation all the time. It makes me act rude to other people. But if I tell this to anyone other than you and Grandma, I’ll be called a psychopath. They won’t understand this feeling unless they’re in my shoes. It’s somewhat a reason I don’t have any friends. When I try to make some, it’s always in vain.

I’m a bit ashamed of this situation, as I’m surrounded by children who live entirely normal lives. I want to make it better. It’s why I’m focusing on my grades so much. I want to make a better home for Grandma in the future. I want to ensure my and your future too. We’ll be living a better life in the coming years.

How’re you doing? I hope college is going well. I hope you are not like me and are doing ok.

Thank you for being my only escape from this brutal reality.

Dear Future Aria Gupta

How are you doing?

Please read this when you're at college or have a job. This is you from the past, and I have tons of questions. Did your/my book get published? I hope it did; I've been working pretty hard on it. What job did I/you get (If I/you have one)? Is it boring? I hope it isn't. Are you/am I happy? I'll blame you if I'm not, even though I'm basically blaming myself.

Here's a list of things I never want to become

  • A bully. What is good in ruining someone's self-esteem?

  • A robber. No one wants to become this!

  • An introvert. I want to have many friends and be super social. Just know, no offence to those who are one.

  • A drama queen. Ugh, I hate those people; they make the most significant problem out of the most minor things.

If you are any of those things, I'm warning you in advance, then guilt will take control of you!

Anyways, do you think I’m stupid and immature? It’s totally fine if you do. Just kidding, no way I’ll forgive that. I don’t care that much if someone says bad things about me, but not myself!

Got to go now! Bye!

A cause that matters to me - Aria Gupta

Future. People say this word a lot of times nowadays. Everyone wants a promising future. It’s not like some students will come to their parents and say, “ Mom, Dad, I wanna be a failure”. But is it pulling an all-nighter every day just to study for some exam? Is it really worth studying seven hours a day and burning yourself out? Is it worth avoiding all sorts of fun just to prepare for the future?. I personally love having fun. I cannot imagine how a person survives without it. Fun is essential in life.

But why have fun when you can spend that time studying?

I’m not saying don’t study; it is beneficial. But fun makes you love life, and when you love life, it can motivate you to keep going even in the worst possible situation.

To sum it up, preparing for the future is good, but don’t burn yourself out. Have fun too.

Changes In Our Lives - Nishan Karki

We must change our lives, mistakes, behaviour and bad habits. Changes are essential to our life from now on. We can be successful people in future if we start making changes in our day-to-day thoughts and work. I want to be a better person and enjoy a bright future. For this I will need to make many changes in my life going forward. I need to change my day-to-day thoughts about how ideas, behaviour, and various skills like thinking, reading, writing, listening, communication skills, etc. If I start improving myself and changing these skills I will surely have a great future ahead.

Dear Life - Rishona Chopra

Dear Life,
Is your path too difficult to drive?
Does it hold happiness?
Or sadness?
Is it full of bundles of joy?
Is it fun, like a playing toy?
Does it hold success for me?
Or will it be full of glee?
I ask these questions to dear Life,
I hope it helps me decide.
It answers,
You could suffer from Cancer.
You could be successful,
You could be distressful.
You may find a lot of joy,
The path may be destroyed.
Neither do I, Neither do you,
Know if you might fall through.
It is in your hands, she says,
It depends on the way I sway.

My greatest fear and how I overcame it - Tenzin Jambey

People have so many fears in life, but we can overcome them by facing them and trying out the challenges that create fear. Like everyone, I have so many fears.

I am afraid of darkness, blood, scary things etc. Out of all these, my greatest fear is my future. I feel terrified when I think of my future and what I will become later. As my friends put it, it's very amusing, and I believe the same.
This fear dips me into depression when I think of how my future would look and how I would take care of my family.

Specific questions arise in my mind, like
would I be able to fulfil my family's wants? I fear feeling ashamed if I fail to meet my family's demands and wishes, as they put in a lot of hard work to send me to school. But I also believe where there is dark, there is light, too; where there is sorrow, there is happiness too!

There are plenty of careers and jobs that I can choose from, and this thought gives me relaxation and relief.
This positive thought keeps my fear away and helps me focus on the better side of life!

Enjoy the present! - Rishona Chopra

"Practicing meditation and detachment can help us remain in soul consciousness and emphasise experiencing being overdoing. Our health, inner well-being and definition of success are more important than any job, salary, degree or anyone else's opinion about us. We can, therefore, consciously create a situation of peace and happiness where the rising tide of expectation is controlled. We are no longer troubled by unfulfilled needs; even the most ordinary experiences become enjoyable."

The future, the past,
Is a world that is vast.
It is a lot to wonder,
You can think about thunder,
and think if you can become a funder.
In this vast world, we forget,
That we haven't touched the present yet.
All forgotten about who we are,
We start thinking or the far.
It is truly so bizarre,
We think of the present as an old scar.
Never thinking about the present,
We forget about the pleasant.
Enjoying the moment is an art,
But I wonder how we fail despite being so smart.
Those thoughts keep popping up,
I put the present in the old cup.
Never did I ever enjoy what I have,
With the future I always began.
But today can I just relax and enjoy the present?

Letter to the President of India - Rishona Chopra

To

Her Excellency Droupadi Murmu
The President Of India

Dear Madam,

Subject: Bringing the Joy Of Learning in every classroom.

I am an intern at My Good School, where we spread the joy of learning. Learning is an art that must be experienced by every individual. As Henry Ford said, "
Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty or eighty. Anyone who keeps learning stays young." Children find joy in everything they do in a classroom where the joy of learning exists. They make their own decisions and, when faced with difficulties, can solve them themselves.

Learning doesn't mean learning to read and write; it means understanding life, instilling values, and making the world better. Children are the future, and it all starts with the joy of learning. We want to make this possible for every child in the world. The joy of learning isn't something special but something every individual deserves to feel.

Thank you for your consideration. Waiting for your response.

Yours sincerely,

Rishona Chopra

A Dilemma - Reveda Bhatt

"…wondering whether I wait to live or if waiting is also living;" - From 'Extinctions' by Sharmistha Mohanty.

Due to the greed pertaining in humans, which doesn't seem to have an end, every moment of our lives is spent waiting for something from our to-do list. Some people are lucky enough to get what they want while waiting for theirs, and some do not understand that what they lost for what they wanted was what could have been gained.

In life, some of us just fix a pinpoint around our life circles wherein instead of living freely, we tie ourselves onto a mystical bull's eye, which we aren't even sure about. We, people, save money for our future or future generations, dragging ourselves into a so-charming-as-seen-superficial bond which limits our life, wings, and flight.

Now, realizing what we are doing with our lives raises a dilemma: whether to wait to live or to live! Taking a step towards waiting to live, the thought popping into our mind is the worry about whether the next generation would be much self-obsessed to even pay us back for the time we spent establishing a bright future for them. Believing they won't, we reframe our step back towards the initial position and then towards living, when we tend to wonder what if our next generation will not be able to get all the best things in life just because of our one stupidity to live freely and fully. That is how few moments of
our lives slip off our hands just like that, waiting for another.

The fact that we limit ourselves in this materialistic world when we can grow out of it really makes me wonder why we want such pleasures? It's not that I am saying let go of them. No! We also need them for our living, but picking out for them in excess is bad. It shouldn't ever be like you are stealing someone's right. All I am saying is that what gets sowed here on this planet, ultimately, wilts.

We get decayed in the same soil where we used to play, blow away in the same air that we
used to breathe, flow out in the same water that we used to swim in and get ash-ed up in
the same fire that once used to give us warmth.

In the past few years, I've learnt that by waiting for something else to come in, we make something go out, out of our mind, out of our soul, out of our body and lives. Halting for a moment to catch on, we lose another. People come, people, go, and moments come, moments go, although once the present is gone, it never comes back but haunts you as your past, a past that could have been better.

So, what I've been doing since those years after realizing that waiting is also living, is- "Forget the past, live in the present and think of the future."

Future, too, sometimes, but not always.
Long way ahead!?

Honesty - Arav Agarwal

Honesty for me means being authentic and being who I am.

Whenever I feel that I should not tell the truth, I just ask myself, do I want to live peacefully or in fear. If we say a lie, we feel regret, and then our minds cannot live peacefully. Being honest has helped me get many opportunities for my growth because of my teachers, coaches, friends, and parents' trust and confidence in me. I also get a good feeling and calmness in my mind by being honest.

I have listened to many stories on honesty since my childhood and many parents' experiences where being honest has helped them in life. Even my experience of being open and getting appreciation from my teachers and parents has made me more confident and courageous to always be truthful and honest in life.

So, we should always keep in mind that practising honesty will take us ahead in the future. By being honest, we are only being true to ourselves.

Be A Dreamer- Aanya Kumar

In the reading session held on 26/12/2021 I understood that dreaming leads to success. Successful leaders had the dream to become one. Take the example of Sachin Tendulkar. He was very young when India lifted the world cup in 1983 and since then he had the dream to play for his country and win the world cup again. It took him twenty- eight years to realise his dream.

All great inventions such as mobile phone, DVD, the light bulb and many more could be made because their inventors had the dream to do something revolutionary. Also, all famous monuments including Taj Mahal were constructed because someone dreamt about leaving a mark in the history.

It is okay to dream because if we do then we might modify the future.

The future of education

The future of education will be built on immutable values alone: Appreciation, Caring, Co-operation, Courage, Freedom, Friendship, Happiness, Honesty, Hope, Humility, Love, Patience, Peace, Quality, Respect, Responsibility, Simplicity, Thoughtfulness, Tolerance, Trust, Understanding & Unity.

Joy Of Learning (JOL) will inspire you by using examples of where the values are already being used by children in schools and share practical tools to stimulate discussion and philosophical debate.

JOL is an extensive and profound learning experience that immerses members in a model of inquiry and problem-based learning. Students work collaboratively to gain knowledge to solve their significant challenges, we champion peer-to-peer learning. #JoyOfLearning

"We live in a society consumed by materialism and the desire for more. Does this mean our next generation of children will grow up being literate and numerate greedy consumers whose lives are judged by their houses' size and the latest model BMW on the drive? Or can our society, along with educators' desire, teach our children the values they need to take responsibility for living and learning? It's simple; the children are our future. It's our moral duty in schools to provide a Values-Based curriculum." The Little Book of Values: Educating Children to Become Thinking, Responsible and Caring Citizens by Julie Duckworth and Ian Gilbert.

"Peer-to-peer learning is when one pupil leads another through a task or concept. A simple way of expressing this difference is that in collaborative learning, students learn alongside one another, whilst in peer learning, they learn from one another." www.randstad.co.uk
