Learning Through Stories - Lotus Petal Foundation

Reflection My Good School.docx.pdf

Students from Lotus Petal Foundation participated in an inspiring My Good School session. This session featured two lively book-reading activities that sparked curiosity, creativity, and meaningful reflections. Students discussed the lessons they learned and how reading together fostered open conversation, empathy, and joy in learning.

Opening New Doors Through Reading - Sunbeam School Ballia

The Good School session was truly inspiring. Mr Jugjiv Sir read and explained the story, The Door-to-Door Bookstore. He also told us the meanings of the hard words. We also learned how to pronounce the difficult words. The way Sir teaches was very nice. At the end, I would say that this session was very interesting.

– Bhumi Gupta, 5B

In this Good School session, I learned how to pronounce words correctly and how to spell new words that were difficult for me before. I also learned how to use commas and question marks properly in sentences. During the session, Jugjiv Sir read a story to us, and we listened carefully. He asked us questions about the story and encouraged us to share our experiences and thoughts. This activity helped me understand the story better and improved my speaking skills. In the end, I would like to say that this session was very useful for me.
– Riddhi Gupta, 5B

The session on The Door-to-Door Bookstore was honestly super interesting and fun! We didn’t just read the story; we really got into it, exploring the characters, their struggles, and how small actions can make a big difference. I especially loved how we discussed random but cool things, like the heels-for-men fact and the legend of Santa Claus—stuff you wouldn’t normally think about, but it made the session so lively. It was more than just a story; it was about human connections, persistence, and noticing the little things in life that actually matter. I also enjoyed how everyone could share their thoughts—it wasn’t just one-way; it felt interactive and made me think differently about storytelling and how messages are delivered. Overall, it was a session that was both fun and meaningful. I left feeling inspired and more aware of the small details and lessons stories can teach us. Definitely one of those sessions that stick with you!
– Janvi Singh, IX F, Sunbeam School Ballia

In today’s Good School session, firstly, Jugjiv Sir read a story to us, and we understood it carefully. We learned how to pronounce some difficult words and their meanings. The story’s name was The Door-to-Door Bookstore. After that, there was a short quiz on Ruskin Bond taken by Manisha Khanna Ma’am. This was conducted because the next story was by Ruskin Bond, and that book was also amazing. Ma’am also asked some questions that related to us. At the end of my reflection, I want to say that this session was amazing and interesting.
– Arohi Jaiswal, 5B

So, I am Shaksham Gupta of class 6E, going to tell you about the session named My Good School. It happens every Sunday to improve our skills in reading. This platform enables children to improve their reading as well as their thinking power. Today’s story name was The Door-to-Door Bookstore. Jugjiv Singh Sir explained the story and asked questions about the chapter. I would also recommend you join the classes every Sunday. It will definitely help you to improve your reading skills. Thank you, Jai Hind!

The Good School session was truly inspiring. Mr Jugjiv Sir read and explained the story, The Door-to-Door Bookstore. He also told us the meaning of the hard words. We also learned how to pronounce the difficult words. The way Sir teaches was very nice. At the end, I would say that this session was very interesting.

My reflection on today’s Good School Alliance session: Today’s meeting about the Good School Alliance session by Jugjiv Sir and Manisha Ma’am was very inspiring and interesting. They also read a story. We listened to it very carefully. Then they asked some questions about it, and that encouraged us to share our thoughts and ideas. This helped me understand the story better. We learned how to pronounce words properly, and when they were reading the story, I was very focused on each and every word. That helped me pronounce properly and read fluently. I also learned how regular reading improves our reading skills and vocabulary. The session motivated me to make reading a daily habit. In the end, I would like to say that it was a very informative and enjoyable meeting, and I am excited to be a part of this learning journey.

Learning Beyond Words: A Day of Inspiration and Growth - Sunbeam School Ballia

Jai Hind, dear readers

Today’s Good School Alliance session, conducted by Jugjiv Sir and Manisha Ma’am, was truly enlightening and inspiring. Jugjiv Sir read and explained the story “The Door-to-Door Bookstore” in a very expressive and engaging manner. The story beautifully conveyed the power of reading and how books can shape our imagination and personality.

The story revolves around Carl Konrad Koreander, a passionate bookstore owner, whose shop is filled with rare and magical books. One day, a young boy named Bastian visits his store and discovers that books are not just pages with words, but gateways to imagination, wisdom, and self-discovery. Through their interaction, the story highlights how reading can open our minds, deepen our understanding, and make us see the world differently.

Throughout the session, Sir guided us in learning the correct pronunciation and meanings of several difficult words. This helped improve our reading fluency and vocabulary. The interactive discussion and thoughtful questions encouraged us to think critically and share our interpretations, which made the session both educational and enjoyable.

From this experience, I understood that regular reading not only enhances our language skills but also strengthens our concentration, creativity, and empathy. Books truly are our best companions, helping us learn, grow, and dream beyond boundaries.

In conclusion, today’s session was deeply motivating, informative, and memorable. It has inspired me to make reading a daily habit and to explore more meaningful stories that enrich both mind and heart.

Reflection on today's session✨

Today's session was very inspiring and knowledgeable for everyone. In the first session, Jugiv Singh sir had read a book named "The Book To Book Store" in which we have learnt a lot of new words, and also this improved my vocabulary and some English.

In the second session we were having Manisha Khanna ma'am who told us about the "Ruskin Bond" story and the story name was  "char pankhudiyan" and also at the beginning of the story we played a short quiz about Ruskin Bond in the quiz she asked us some unique things about Ruskin Bond life and asked the questions related to that and the story was about four friends. At last, Sandeep sir told us very nice and good things, and also motivated us to move forward in our lives. I am really thankful to have this opportunity to have such a great platform for learning new things, to have motivation from all the members of My Good School ๐ŸŒบ.

I thank Sandeep sir, Jugiv  sir and Manisha ma'am for taking today's great session

Both sessions were truly amazing

Today’s Good School Session✨

Today's session was truly inspiring and informative. In the first session with Jugjiv Sir, we learned how to pronounce words correctly and use punctuation marks effectively through reading reflections and the book “The Door to Door Bookstore.” This activity significantly improved my vocabulary and communication skills.

The second session with Manisha Ma’am was equally enriching. She read us the story “เคšाเคฐ เคชंเค–ुเคก़िเคฏां” (Four Petals) written by Ruskin Bond. The story revolved around four friends who were mistaken for kidnappers while trying to care for a small child. We also enjoyed an engaging quiz that deepened our understanding of Ruskin Bond’s works. The session was truly interactive and fun.

One key takeaway that resonated with me was the importance of avoiding impulsive decisions, especially when we are emotional. This valuable lesson has left a lasting impact, and I’m truly grateful for the opportunity to learn.๐ŸŒธ

Thank you, Manisha Ma’am and Jugjiv Sir, for such a thought-provoking session.๐Ÿ’ซ

An Enriching Session on Unity and Learning - Sunbeam School, Ballia

Today’s session was truly inspiring and informative. In the first session with Amardeep Sir, we learned about the teachings of Guru Nanak and gained insight into his travels across various regions, including Makkah, Madina, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Tibet, and India, as he explored the true meaning of life and religion.

The second session was a fascinating discussion with Brinda Ma’am and Jugjiv Sir, where we read excerpts from The Inner Life of Animals. We delved into the world of animals, exploring their desires and emotions towards humans. The session was both encouraging and thought-provoking, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

A heartfelt thank you to the organisers for an engaging and enriching experience.

– Ifra Wahid, IX F

In today’s session, we had the great personality, Mr. Amardeep Singh Sir with us. His best quality is that he does not believe in any kind of discrimination in religion. He told us about the Islamic religion and the story of Mecca and Madina. Then, he showed us a video about all religions in India. He also shared an important moral – the compassion of a mosque. Sir very patiently answered the questions of the students.

After some time, one more teacher, Mrs. Brinda Ghosh Ma’am, entered the class. She read a story titled The Inner Life of Animals and later asked us questions related to the story.

This session was truly one of the best sessions!

Sunbeam Lahartara: Reading Our Minds Aloud

Educating with Empathy.pptx by Manisha Khanna

At our Sunday School, we immerse ourselves in a vibrant environment where every story and activity teaches us valuable lessons and resonates with our hearts. If we could share our thoughts, you would see how deeply we cherish each moment spent together.

During the Youth Engaging Society Workshop with Shikha Ma’am, we discovered the importance of empathy. We learned to listen to others patiently and to understand feelings beyond our own. We practised kindness, not only through our words but also through simple acts that can brighten someone's day. We also realized the value of determination—when challenges arise, courage and persistence guide us toward success.

Our Sunday School experience was more than a class; it was a gentle reminder that values shape who we are. We carry these lessons forward, proud to be Sunbeamians who believe in touching lives with empathy, spreading kindness, and facing every challenge with determination.

Learning Empathy and Kindness - Sunbeam School Ballia

My Good School 31st August 2025

Our first session with Shikha ma'am was particularly enlightening, as we explored the differences between empathy, sympathy, and kindness. We learned how these acts can profoundly impact not only our own happiness, but also that of our friends and surroundings. We also gained valuable insights into practising empathy in various situations.

The second session with Jugjiv sir was a delightful book-reading experience. The Door-to-Door Bookstore by Carsten Henn highlighted the immense value of friendship through the story of Carl, a bookseller.

Today's session was incredibly encouraging and helpful in my journey to develop essential skills, be empathetic, and practice kindness.

Ifra Wahid
Class IX

Today, we had Ms. Shikha ma'am with us, and we learnt about kindness, friendship, and empathy. I understood how we can help our friends in every situation—whether they are facing a problem or not, and whether they are in a good mood or not. I felt thrilled because Ma'am helped me answer my question and also gave me a chance to speak. Today's session was very interactive and genuinely one of the best sessions I've ever had.

Talat Bano
Class V-C

In today's session, I learnt that kindness is when we do something good for others, but empathy is when we actually feel what they feel. Kindness is like giving a hand, and empathy is like walking beside someone so they don't feel alone. When both come together, even small actions can make a big difference. A simple act, such as listening to a friend or standing with someone who feels hurt, can give them the courage they need.

Today, I understood that kindness is the action, but empathy is the heart inside it. If we practice both, we not only make one person's day better, but also make this world a softer and kinder place to live in.

Astha Mishra
Class IX-D

It was one of the most fruitful sessions I have ever attended. It was taken by Ms. Shikha Agnihotri and focused on how children's emotions affect their lives. She has conducted multiple analyses of child psychology, and her explanation of kindness and empathy made it clear how we should practice these values in our daily lives.

We asked many questions, and Shikha ma'am answered them patiently, ensuring that she conveyed the essence of kindness and empathy to us. In the middle of the session, we even discussed coping with bullying, which made the discussion even more impactful.

Storytelling that Brings Nature Alive - Sunbeam School Ballia

In the first part of the session, we read a story about the inner life of animals. The story was truly confronting—the life of animals, how they feel, what problems they face. This story also tells you about a place where animals stay freely without any danger. And in the second part, Manisha ma'am read the story of Lakshya and also told us about what things are required in the path of your success. The story tells about why there is a need for ambition.

And my favourite part was the question-and-answer session where Jugjiv sir answered all questions in a very understandable way. At the beginning, I also got a suggestion for making my reading better.

SAVITA SINGH
IX- D

Today’s My Good School session left me with many thoughts to carry forward. The first book, Inner Life of Animals, read with Ms. Brinda Ghosh, opened my eyes to the depth of emotions animals experience. It was touching to realise that they too have feelings and connections, reminding me that empathy must extend beyond just people—it should include every living being.

The second book, เค•्เคฏा เค†เคชเค•ा เคฌเคš्เคšा เคฆुเคจिเคฏा เค•ा เคธाเคฎเคจा เค•เคฐเคจे เค•े เคฒिเค เคคैเคฏाเคฐ เคนै, shared by Ms. Manisha Khanna, made me reflect on how we prepare children for life. It was a gentle reminder that education is not only about marks or subjects but also about giving children the strength and courage to face real-world challenges with confidence.

Both readings beautifully connected—the first teaching us compassion, the second resilience. Together, they showed that true learning is about shaping both the heart and the mind. Each Sunday at My Good School feels like a step toward becoming better versions of ourselves.

Today’s session was truly eye-opening and deeply enriching. We began by exploring Peter Wohlleben’s The Inner Life of Animals, where scientific facts unfolded like gentle forest fables. His storytelling revealed the emotions and hidden struggles of creatures like squirrels, ravens, and horses—transforming them from mere animals into beings with inner lives that deserve empathy and respect. It made me more aware of the challenges animals face and the importance of creating safe spaces where they can live peacefully alongside us.

Adding to this, Manisha Ma’am shared the inspiring story of Lakshya, centred on ambition and determination. It beautifully highlighted how clarity of goals and a strong mindset can shape success. This narrative not only encouraged me to reflect on my own ambitions but also reminded me of the value of perseverance in everyday life.

What truly elevated the session was the engaging way our mentor connected these stories with larger life lessons. The discussions showed me how storytelling has the power to reshape our perspectives—whether about the natural world or about personal growth.

Overall, the session left me inspired, motivated for self-reflection, and equipped with practical ideas to grow both as a learner and as a person.

At today’s Good School Alliance Reading Session, I attended the discussion on The Inner Life of Animals by Peter Wohlleben. I really liked how the storytelling made scientific facts feel like little stories, almost like fables of the forest. Animals were shown not just as creatures but as beings with emotions—squirrels, ravens, and even horses felt alive in a new way through his words.

Our mentor’s responses during the session made the discussion even more engaging and helped me realise how storytelling can completely change the way we look at the natural world.

Today, I learned that achieving success requires a clear aim, skill development, and hard work. Breaking down goals into smaller parts helps maintain momentum, and embracing failure as a learning opportunity is crucial. My Good School: A Journey of Lifelong Learning - Sunbeam School, Ballia

My favourite story in the session was The Door-to-Door Bookstore, which beautifully showed how small details make a story feel alive and meaningful. I especially appreciated it when Pramod Sir spoke about the better side of Afghanistan, as it offered me a fresh perspective beyond common assumptions. The discussion on hard work versus skill was also very valuable for me; I realised that in our country, hard work plays a greater role until we reach a certain stage of development, after which skills become equally important. Overall, the session was engaging, eye-opening, and truly inspiring.

Today’s My Good School session was truly inspiring.
The Meet and Greet with Pramod Sharma Sir allowed us to learn from a veteran educationist who has dedicated 50+ years to shaping education. His presence was a reminder of the value of lifelong learning and the powerful impact a single teacher can create.

The first book reading from The Door-to-Door Bookstore (Chapter 5: Words with Jugjiv Singh) highlighted the importance of words, stories, and conversations in bringing people closer. It reminded me that books are not just meant for reading—they open doors to meaningful connections and thoughtful discussions.

Pranjal Rai

In today’s session, meeting Mr. Pramod Sharma was truly inspiring. His unwavering determination and clarity of purpose showed us what true passion looks like. As I asked him questions, I realised how deeply committed he is to education and personal growth. His explanation of gratitude reminded us to cherish every moment. One quote I now believe in is: “Purpose fuels passion, and passion shapes legacy.” This session wasn’t just informative—it was a powerful reminder to lead with intention and heart.

Today’s first book reading from The Door-to-Door Bookstore (Chapter 5) made me realise how powerful words and stories can be in connecting people. It showed me that books aren’t just meant to be read—they spark meaningful conversations and help build genuine bonds between individuals.

The Gala Time Paradox: Fun Now, Panic Later - Manisha Khanna

Coach or Control? The Classroom Tug of War

It’s 2025, and students have unlocked a superpower: selective hearing.

  • Homework? “Oh… that was just a suggestion, right?”

  • Deadlines? “But sir/ma’am… time is a social construct.”

  • Writing assignments? “Pens are so last century, can’t we just send emojis?”

Meanwhile, Netflix, gaming, memes, and reels enjoy full attendance and 100% completion rates.

Motivation—the old fairy godmother of education—seems to have retired. “Follow your passion” has been upgraded to “Follow whatever is fun right now.” Result? Balance and time management are missing in action, probably lying somewhere between a half-finished essay and a three-hour YouTube binge on “10 ways cats secretly rule the world.”

Why do students hate writing anyway?

  • “My hand hurts!” – after writing exactly three lines.

  • “Why write when AI/Google can?”

  • “The page looks so scary… all that white space judging me.”

  • “Typing is faster, duh.”

  • “Do I really need to write an essay when I can just make a reel about it?”

Writing, for many, feels like running a marathon… barefoot… uphill… in the snow.

Control or Coach?

  • Control Approach: Strict rules, constant monitoring, and punishments given out like free Wi-Fi passwords. Effective for a bit—until students start treating you like the router itself: only noticed when you block their connection.

  • Coach Approach: Gentle nudges, guiding questions, and life lessons. Teaching that freedom without responsibility is like a pizza without cheese—fun for one bite, but regret forever. Coaching is slower, but it builds habits, self-awareness, and the ability to manage life (and deadlines) without panic attacks.

The Secret Recipe ๐Ÿฒ

In today’s world, pure control sparks rebellion, while pure coaching can feel too “chill.” The magic is in mixing the two—a coach with a pinch of control. Like adding just enough salt to pasta: too much ruins it, too little makes it bland.

Because while gala time is great, learning to balance fun with goals isn’t just a school requirement—it’s a life superpower. And that, dear students, is as non-negotiable as exam dates.

A Question Back to You ✍️

If writing feels like a burden, why did every great thinker, leader, and creator—from poets to inventors—still turn to pen and paper to capture their thoughts?
Maybe writing isn’t about the homework at all—it’s about discovering your own mind on paper.

Now it’s your turn: What do you think writing gives us that no screen or shortcut can?

Write back—because your thoughts matter.

Manisha Khanna

Storytelling: A Bridge to Creativity and Connection - Sunbeam School Ballia

Jai Hind, everyone,

This was my third session (though I could join only for the last 20–25 minutes), and once again, it was amazing—full of insights on reading techniques, explanation patterns, and the art of weaving stories through narration.

Today’s session reminded me that storytelling is more than just words—it’s a bridge between minds, turning ideas into experiences. When students share their visions, they don’t just imagine the future; they begin to shape it. Imagination fuels possibility, and stories breathe life into it. Our role is to listen, encourage, and believe in the power of their dreams.

Overall, the session was truly fruitful, offering many practical methods we can adopt in our own teaching.

Thank you, and Jai Hind.

Jai Hind, everyone,

Every Sunday’s session leaves me inspired, and today was no different. The techniques shared for reading, explaining, and narrating stories opened up new ways to engage learners. It proved that storytelling goes beyond speaking—it builds connections, sparks creativity, and helps shape young minds for the future.

Truly, it was a rewarding session with plenty of ideas to bring into the classroom.

Sunday Sessions that Inspire Reading and Thinking - Sunbeam School, Ballia

True growth begins when we take charge of our actions, work on bettering ourselves, and inspire others through what we do. By being responsible, open to improvement, and setting a positive example, we create a ripple of change that reaches far beyond us. The best part of today’s session was the focus on quality time rather than quantity. During the session,

I shared this thought: "If you want to buy jeans without looking at the price, you must study without looking at the time."
Astha Mishra

Jai Hind, dear readers,

I am Aayush Kumar Singh from Class 10 A, and this is my reflection on today’s session.

Study like you’re shopping for a luxury item—focus on the quality, not the cost. The best results don’t come from watching the clock, but from immersing yourself completely in the work.

Another way to put it: Dedicate yourself to learning with the same unwavering focus you’d have when purchasing something without looking at the price tag. True wealth isn’t measured in hours spent, but in the depth of knowledge gained.

Or simply: When you’re truly invested in your goals, you stop counting the hours you put in. Success isn’t about the quantity of time you spend, but the quality of the effort you make.

Thank you, and Jai Hind.

I am Saksham Gupta of Class 6E, and I am going to tell you about the session named "My Good School." It takes place every Sunday to help us improve our reading skills. This platform not only strengthens our reading but also sharpens our thinking power.

About the Story

Today, the story was "Weathering the Storm" by our mentor, Ms. Brinda Ghosh. She is an amazing teacher, and I really enjoyed the way she told the story.

I would also recommend that other readers join these classes every Sunday. They will definitely help improve your reading.

Reflecting Hearts, Growing Minds - PYDS Learning Academy

PYDS Reflections.pdf posted by Manisha Khanna, GSA Principal

The children are thrilled to attend Sunday School. Each week, they look forward to the stories and lessons that spark their curiosity and joy. But what they love most is the time they spend in quiet reflection, thinking deeply about what they've learned and how it touches their lives.

This habit of introspection isn't just meaningful—it's powerful. It helps them understand themselves and the world around them. Reflection makes them more thoughtful, responsible, and aware. In fact, it shapes them into better students, not just of books, but of life.

Seeds of Thought, Blooms of Change - Lotus Petal Foundation

At Lotus Petal Foundation School, reflection is an integral part of the learning process. Here, students are encouraged not only to answer questions, but also to ask them about life, themselves, and society. After each lesson, they pause, ponder, and express their insights through stories, drawings, journals, and discussions. This creative culture of reflection empowers students to connect learning with lived experiences. It nurtures empathy, resilience, and originality. Whether sketching a lotus to represent hope or writing poems about kindness, their reflections bloom into ideas that shape a better tomorrow.

Guided to Grow: A Journey Through Mentorship and Meaningful Learning - Aayush Kumar Singh

Here’s what Manisha Khanna shared—check it out!
https://www.joyoflearningdiaries.com/2025/07/drive-force-behind-success-manisha.html

This is a truly inspiring reflection, and I’m Aayush Kumar Singh, Class 10 A, Sunbeam School Ballia, writing this after attending the session by Mrs. Manisha Khanna Ma’am!

It all starts with a simple yet profound thought: What truly makes a school good?

Manisha Ma’am’s journey beautifully illustrates that understanding isn’t just about getting answers handed to you—it's about the incredible process of figuring things out for yourself, especially when you have wonderful guides.

Finding Direction with Gentle Nudges

It’s clear how important Neetu Koranga Ma’am was in helping Manisha Ma’am find her initial direction. Instead of just giving answers, she offered “scaffolding”—a beautiful way to describe how a mentor enables you too to build your own understanding step by step. This really hits home: true guidance is about empowering someone to discover their own path, rather than simply telling them where to go. It’s like being given a compass and the confidence to use it, not just a pre-drawn map.

The Spark of a Dream

Then came Sandeep Dutt Sir, who helped Manisha Ma’am tap into her dream. It’s so inspiring to see how a mentor can spark something within you, not just by showing the way, but by truly walking alongside you. Giving Manisha Ma’am the freedom to correct, create, and eventually lead shows immense trust. And that trust is crucial for a dream to truly take root and flourish. It’s about being trusted to grow, to try, and even to stumble, knowing there’s support every step of the way.

Thank you and Jai Hind!

Learning Life Lessons with My Good School - Viraaj Rai

In this session, we learned about loyalty. We understood that animals are often more loyal than humans. Another important lesson was that every person has at least one exceptional talent. We also learned about the importance of reading. Reading helps us gain knowledge that can be useful in the future.

What I liked the most was how the teachers explained the topics — everything was clear and easy to understand. The question-and-answer part was also exciting. The teachers answered all our questions patiently and kindly. I enjoy the My Good School sessions on Sundays. They are very informative and well-organised.

I liked this session a lot.

Thank you!
